I have an Onkyo TX-SR806 receiver, that won't play the zone 2 audio?? Already checked for proper set-up in both Hardware & speaker settings, still no sound. Bi-amp is also set properly. The prior receiver used to play the alternate speakers, (which are a pair of outdoors), just fine, so I know the speaks and wires are good. frustrated! Model Information: Make: Onkyo Model: TX-SR806

If your satellite box is connected using a digital cable to the 601 receiver you won't get any sound through zone 2.Zone 2 can process only analogue sound ( inputs ).
David is wrong. My Onkyo is the same way. The receiver will only provide a signal to zone 2 speaker outputs from analog sources. I assume this was because of concerns with digital rights management, which caused some odd decisions for a while by hardware manufacturers. Newer receivers should not have this problem.
The onkyo should still have a speaker A/B selector in the menu.
Check on the back panel for speaker A/B.
If it has or you decide to use Zone 2 you will need to set the sound programme to "stereo" so the rears and centre do not work.
You can still use a digital source.
You should be able to display the amp's menu on the screen.
Hook up "monitor out" (Yellow) via RCA connector to one of the "A/V inputs" (yellow) on the tv, this will show you a display of the menu and will make it eaiser to navigate.
also, you might have to search through the menu of the receiver, and set the surround back speakers to be zone 2 instead of using the 7.1 configuration that is probably default.
i think zone 2 will only play sources that are hooked up with analog connects, ie. red/white cables. try using the radio to see if it works. you might have to hook up your cable/sat box, cd player, dvd player, whatever you have that you want to listen to with both digital and analog cables to get everything to work right.
restore the receivers to factory settings by pressing and holding the dvr/vcr button then press the stand by button. this would erase all assignments made so you would need to redo the assignments of your sources to the receiver, then activate zone 2 by going in to the hardware setup(7.2)
I am sure this isn't it, but if all components are connected digitally Zone 2 won't work. It only allows analog connections, so anything attached via HDMI, etc. will not be able to be output to Zone 2.
