It is very simple you guys! I had the same problem with my Windows XP SP3 and SOLVE IT EASY!

1. Unplug all your USB devices. If you have hubs, unplug only the devices attached to the hub, not the hub from the computer.

2. Open the registry and delete the following 6 branches.
H_L_M\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USB

H_L_M\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USBPRINT

H_L_M\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USBSTOR

H_L_M\System\ControlSet002\Enum\USB

H_L_M\System\ControlSet002\Enum\USBPRINT

H_L_M\System\ControlSet002\Enum\USBSTOR

3. Restart your computer and attach one by one your USB devices. If you have hubs, first let the OS to recognize your hubs, then attach the USB devices.

Your Digital Camera should be recognized immediately by the system. If you don't have your Digital Camera software installed you can use Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard to upload your photos.

I need to load software onto a new laptop. Lost my copy! How do I get a copy, looked everywhere! Canon Power Shot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH. Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi.

You can get the software from Canon support. Click on the link I have provided below, scroll down the page and select your OS (XP, Vista or Win 7 etc)
Click on "Software" and a drop down list will appear. Look down the list and download the application NOT the updater.

CANON POWERSHOT SD1100 IS USB NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE COMPUTER

http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/5/0300000755/01/PSSD1100IS_IXUS80IS_CUG_EN.pdf

according to p.29 you have to switch it to playback mode and then turn the camera on with it first connected to the computer with the USB cord.

If it is not recognized as having the right digital signature, then you should click 'yes' to proceed.

Also, you should have already loaded the drivers and software found on the cd supplied with the camera.

If you don't have the cd, then you can download the software from the canonusa.com site.

Hope this helps.

Computer Not Recognizing Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Elph A

Depending on your OS, you can download the latest driver for your system directly from Canon here. Remember to select your OS in the dropdown tab to be able to see the available downloads.

But I'd also recommend that you take this as an opportunity to consider utilizing a much safer method of downloading your pictures and videos. Please see this link, as it describes the use of a USB card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. Note that card readers are also VERY inexpensive these days (some places less than $2 online with shipping).

I cannot retrieve pictures from my camera. When I plug it in to my USB port, my computer is not recognizing it. I have a Canon Powershot S30, my operating system is Windows XP.

Most Compact cameras come with a software disk that has the photo software pre-loaded. My experience is that once you have loaded the software and uploaded your pictures, you can then convert the file to XP, or better still, to Photoshop.

Hope this helps

Computer doesn't recognize camera

Remove previous all installation/ file if any. Insert the Driver CD in the CD ROM again a wizard interface would be active, from that wizard complete the installation by clicking Next - Next. Do not plug the camera before fresh installation complete. If wizard ask to plug your camera, then plug it.
