What does a AMI bios beep code of one long and 9 short

THE MOTHERBOARD HAVE GIVEN YOU THE CODE OF
CHECKSUM ERROR.TRY CLEAR CMOS IF THAT NOT HELP
THE MOTHER IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX.

Gigabyte doesn't list 3 long beeps as an error code, so I'm not sure if you're actually getting 3 short beeps or maybe 1 long and 2 short or... But, for reference, Gigabyte's error code list is as follows (depending on whether you have an AWARD BIOS or an AMI):

It might not be a lot of help, but it's somewhere to start... and at least this way you'll know what to be listening for.

Depending on the BIOS you have on your motherboard as the beeps mean different things in AMI IBM and Pheonix BIOS .

MSI states that 7 beeps means "Virtual mode exception error "


Explanation: Virtual mode is one of the different modes that the processor can run in. The system is reporting an error when testing this mode.
Diagnosis: There is a problem related to the processor or motherboard. Note that this doesn't mean that the processor is necessarily dead, since the system won't boot at all with a dead processor.


Not knowing the price of either your processor or the board it is hard to say what to do for the best

I still did not find beep code that match your problem..

Anyways here are the common beep codes for your motherboard.. it might help you too.
1. No beep - no reaction, the mother board is dead, power supply problem, processor and or ram problem.
2. 1beep - board is working fine.
3. One long beep then it shuts down - cpu problem, your processor is not working or missing.
4. 1short beep - system boots normally
5. 2short beeps - CMOS setting error.
6. 1long 1short beep - dram error
7. 1long 2 short beep - video card or monitor not connected
8. 1long 3 short beep - keyboard error.
9. 1long 9short beep - ROM error
10. Long beep - memory card is missing or not connected
11. Short beep - power supply error
12 Four beeps - there is no fan detected on Fan1 or Fan2 header. make sure to attach or reset CMOS bios to factory setting.

You really aren't giving much info, so here are some beep - codes, also make sure nothing came loose on the motherboard or other components ( do this ONLY if you know how ) Safety first.

When you boot your system try to pause your boot up screen. See if the bios is reporting the correct total of memory in your system. If the computer is actually functioning and the computer beeps continuously, then there is a problem with a voltage on the power supply being incorrect or the CPU overheating. IMMEDIATELY go into the BIOS and check CPU temperature, fan speed and voltages

BIOS Beep Codes

Annoying isn't it? You have built your computer you switch it on and then nothing happens except a few beeps from the PC speaker. Frustration sets in as you try to figure out what is wrong with it. If you didn't already know the computer has already told you the problem. It can't speak of course but it can direct you to the problem. Its all in the beeps. The BIOS can recognise when the problem occurs and sends a signal out to send a certain amount of beeps through the speaker. These beeps then tell you the location of the problem.

Unfortunately not all the BIOS' use the same codes as each other. Two of the main BIOS manufactures AMI and Award (now Phoenix) have different codes for there errors.

AMI BIOS

With the first 3 beep codes, its well worth re-seating the memory just to make sure that it's in correctly. 8 Beeps is probably the most common in my experience. Can be caused by a badly seated Graphics card. If you have re-seated it then check with another Graphics card in the board.

Always check for loose components before sending the board back as this is the main cause of errors on the POST.



Award BIOS

Award states that they now only use one beep from there BIOS. This beep is one long beep and then two short beeps. This indicates a graphics card problem. Any other beeps should be treated as a RAM problem first and then the board sent in to be inspected.

The reason that the Award BIOS only uses the beep code for display problems is that it tries to display the error on-screen if at all possible. If the BIOS cannot initiate the display adapter then this causes the BIOS to make the beep code for a display error, which must be corrected before any other errors can be determined. Memory Test fails and hard disk failures etc will all be displayed on screen

IBM BIOS

The IBM BIOS works with Short and Long beeps as well as the Award BIOS. However the IBM one does still have codes to work from.

Phoenix BIOS
The Phoenix BIOS works on a slightly more complicated manor than the others. It does display an error code for you and produce a series of beeps. This BIOS produces its beeps according to the hexadecimal code the error produces. The Phoenix BIOS has many different codes for its possible errors and so many different beep codes. Rather than list the entire section here, I have provided a link to the official PDF file containing the codes and how they are derived.

System board errors should be looked at by a specialist, Again always try to re-seat components to ensure they are in correctly. If necessary take all components out except for the RAM CPU and graphics card, then try the system. Re-seating components is the number one fix for getting past the POST screen. One badly seated components can cause the entire system not to function. so pick out your bios and follow the steps above to diagnose .hope this helps

When you open to you're bios menu, either at the top or at the bottom of the screen will be a name of you'e bios. In you're case the name is at the bottom of your bios menu. (American Megatrends Inc.). Or for short AMI You could search google for, AMI bios beep codes.

You need to test you're memory. (Only if cleaning the memory has did not change the beep error beeps).
First remove you're memory & blow out the DIMM slots with canned air. Clean the copper on the memory with house hold alcohol on a lightly dampend cotton swab. (Let it dry), (Do not touch the copper with you're fingers. Re-install you're memory.
If you have more than one DIMM. Remove the bank farthest from the CPU & boot the PC. Did you hear the 3 beeps? Remove the the next bank & re-install the one you removed first in to the slot closest to the CPU. Boot the PC, again did you hear the 3 beeps?
