I have signed up with an account with itunes how do i access the account and download

You need to create an "Apple ID" at this site: https://appleid.apple.com/account. That will give you access to all Apple products, including iTunes. When that is done, download and install iTunes from this site: https://www.apple.com/itunes/.

Account Sign in uses your Apple Account Name & Password for your iTunes account at Apple.
This has nothing to do with where you keep your
music (iTunes Library)
Open up iTunes
Go to top menu "iTunes" then "Preferences"
Click on "Advanced" Cogwheel Icon
Take note of where your iTunes Library is currently being stored
Write it down.
Then check to see if your iTunes Library is located there.
Someone may have moved it.
The Default location is usually
/Users/"Home Folder Name"/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
But.... you can change this to anywhere.... even another external hard drive or memory stick if you want.

signing up for a new itunes account is free but you need a valid credit card to sign up..

if you have creadit card, go to www.itunes.com and download and install latest iTunes application.After install, open iTunes, click on iTunes Store (below Library) then "Sign In" (below search) a pop-up window will appear, click "Create New Account" button. Follow the on screen instruction.

According to information provided by Apple, any content that you download to your iPod from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music store is automatically copied to your iTunes library when you next sync your iPod to your computer. You generally do not need a remote connection to your home computer or iTunes running in order to do this, so you should only need to have access to a Wi-Fi connection to download iTunes content.

Please keep in mind though that you may not have access to the same range of iTunes content through the Wi-Fi store as you do through your home computer. Movies, podcasts and TV shows are normally only available through the full iTunes store accessible on home computers.
