You say it does not drain...do you hear a humming? or is it dead? if it's dead you probably have a problem with your lid switch

Maytag Atlantis washer drain hose is over flowing during rinse cycle

It probably has some coins stuck in the pump or a kink in the hose. If the washing machine won't drain, remove the access panel, and follow drain hose into machine and to the pump. You will need something to catch the water. Take pliers and sqeeze clamp and slide away from pump. Pull hose off and drain water. Remove coins from pump inlet and reassemble. If it is overflowing where it drains into the wall, you will need a pipe snake or a plummer.

I have a Maytag Atlantis MAV6200AWW. It often does not empty out the tub when it is finished, and the water is still soapy after it is done. If I turn it back to spin it does and drains ok.

If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out. To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port.If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump.

Washer will not drain

A maytag toploader that won't drain usually has one of only a few problems..
Open the machine by removing the 2 screws on the bottom of the front cover.
This will allow you to tip the front face forward from the bottom until it releases from the retainer clips on the top edge. This allows access to motor, pump, hoses, and belts.
Take the drive belts off the pulleys on the underside of the machine and inspect for damage, burn marks etc. replace if needed.
Inspect the pump (front right of base plate). The pump is transluscent so you can see if it's sucked a sock or something inside. Clear blockage if needed. Blockages usually cause the belts to burn. ... then you get a tub of water that won't drain.
If the belts are ok , and the pump is clear, squeeze the hose between the tub and pump and see if you can feel any blockage in the hose. Remove if necessary.
Lastly, if you take the 2 bolts from the top front corners out, you can tip the top of the machine back and expose the top of the drum. You can remove the cover and with a long piece of coat hanger wire with a small hook bent on one end, "fish between the inner and outer tub in the area near the drain hose. You may snag an article of clothing that went over the edge of the inner drum and is blocking the outer drum's drain.
Those are the main issues that will keep a Maytag from draining. Watch out for water leaking when you take those hoses loose!

Water flow

This sounds like a siphon condition. Pull your drain hose (the black hose from the back of the machine) out of the wall. Now put it back in only 6". When they go in too far, the drain in your house that prevents odors from coming back out of your drain causes a siphon that pulls the water back out. Make sure to tie the drain hose down with a tie so it does not pop back out when the washer is draining/ spinning.

Poor extraction

Check the drain pump filter and remove the drain hose where it attatches to the plumbing under the sink/tub and look for any blockage in the drain spigot. Also you can remove the drum to pump hose and check that for any blockage. Try to turn the pump impellar by had/finger and it should turn freely. If it doesn't turn freely, the pump is seized and has to be replaced.
