Cooling and/or convection fan

Cooling fan stopped working and is making a rattling noise

Our GE profile convection oven fan works, but rattles constantly (several months ago it only rattled for the first 5 minutes or so, but as the oven heated it eventually went away).  We've taken no steps, since only recently has the rattle been continuous--it's about 4 years old now.

The convection light on the display panel is lit up, the beeping sound when the temperature reaches the specified temperature are all functioning properly, but the convection fan in the oven section is not running.

Our GE oven fan works, but rattles constantly as soon as it warms up and stops when the oven has completely cooled.

GE profile convection oven works fine but rattles constantly. Very noisy and annoying. The fan is hitting anything, could I WD40 it? How to fix?

I have the same problem with my convection fan. It rattles once turned on and the rattling lessens to every now and then when heated up.

I used the self-cleaning function on the oven the other day and that is when I first heard the oven make a loud rattle. And now the rattle comes on as soon as I turn on the oven it makes a loud rattling noise. I believe it is heating up to the correct temp. but it makes a loud rattle the entire time it is on. The oven I have is the GE wall oven JTP25SOH6SS. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I had the same problem. The screen protecting the fan bends into the fan from the heat. Take off the top front control panel (3 screws), reach in to the back where the fan is and push the screen back away from the fan. As always, turn the power off first to avoid shock. This should solve your noise problem.

I have a Bosch white single wall oven HBL54AUC. It is very loud and I don't know why. It works...just too loud. Any suggestions? Linda :

Good morning Linda, the noise you're hearing is probably the cooling fan with a bad bearing. That would be the only moving part that would make noise. It's a pain in the neck to get to but fairly easy to swap out. Definitely easier with two people. Or it could be a bad bearing on the convection fan motor. Set it to temp and then open the door once it starts to heat, That will cut power to convection fan and noise will stop.Hope that helps.

Noise when oven running and stops when oven stops

Is it a convectional oven? If so, this is the fan turning on to circulate the heat. Being an electric oven, there really shouldn't be any noise whats so ever when on. I suspect your have a convectional oven and the fan is making the noise...either because it is working fine...or because its not and needs to be replaced.

The oven makes a loud rattling sound when it reaches a certain heat (tends to be about 200 degrees) and then rattles intermittently until turned off. If you slam the door it does sometimes shut for a...

From what you describe is happening, I would say that it is the fan that is causing the noise, not neccesserily the oven fan, because there is an external cooling fan as well, and these are the only moving parts that could cause a noise.
Hope this helps.

Loud fan rattling in convection mode

On the repairs I have done, it has always been a bad fan motor bearing. The only way you are going to be able to tell is to tear it down to the fan assembly and feel if the fan blade or blower is loose. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Convection oven making rattling sound.

It is most likeky that the fan bearing is worn and thus causing the rattling sound. You will probably need to replace the fan. Check first that there is no obstacle in the way of the fan rotating.

Replacement of the fan will require the back of the oven to be removed giving access to the fan unit, which will need to have the wires disconnected and the fan assembly unbolted. Fitting is the reverse.

Always remember to switch off the power before working on electrical equipment.

Our fan seems to make a loud rattling noise

Hello, Happy new year ! Now for the oven problem. Do you know if it is the convection fan in the oven cavity or the cooling fan in the cabinet ? If it is the conv. fan, it's quite likely just a loose fan blade. remove the rack's and then the cover of the fan and you should be able to inspect the fan blade and more specifically the retaining nut at the center. You can tighten it if loose,( carefully they tend to bend easy ) but be sure the fan itself isn't bent or damaged in some fashion. If that doesn't solve the problem let me know I'll try to direct you to the cooling fan, however it is much more involved and I typically suggest a pro tech. Hope this help's, good luck and thank's for visiting "fixya" today. Macmarkus :)

Why does my Jenn Air convection oven make such a LOUD clattery/ticking noise whenever I use it? I think it must be the fan...can you help?

If you can get at the fan blades without taking anything apart, try to turn the fan blade by using a small screwdriver or even a small wooden skewer. Listen to see if the blades are making contact with either fan cover or the back of the oven or the edges of the convection opening.

Once you determine which blade(s) are making contact, use a sharpie marker to mark those blades you need to correct. That way if the blades are hitting the fan cover, you'll know which ones need to be bent back into shape once the cover is removed.

With the oven turned off, you should be able to remove the circulating fan cover and correctly bend the fan blades back into shape and stop the noise.

Hope you found this very helpful and best regards!

Kitchenaid convection oven fan rattles/noisey

Sometimes the fan blade mounting nut gets loose. Remove the cover from the fan and see if the blade wobbles. If so,tighten the nut on the fan motor.
