There could be a few reasons why you are not getting any sound from your vintage VSX 5600 Pioneer home theater system. Here are some things you can try:
Check the connections: Make sure all of the cables are securely connected to the appropriate ports.
Check the power: Make sure the home theater system is turned on and the power cord is plugged in.
Check the volume: Make sure the volume on the home theater system and the volume on your TV are turned up.
Check the input: Make sure the home theater system is set to the correct input.
Check the speakers: Make sure the speakers are turned on and properly connected.
Disconnect all the speakers, and then check. Connect the speakers, one by one, and find which one makes it overload. That speaker is faulty. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Go to eservice: http://www.eserviceinfo.com/index.php?what=search2 and search for VSX-305. You can downlaod the manual. The service manual is widely found with a google search but is also listed at the eservice website. Oh, Ebay has the service manuals as well.
What device code are you looking for? Are you trying to control a TV or similar? If so, the only place you will find that is in the owner's manual. If you no longer have the manual, it will be on Pioneer's website. For more information, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. You may contact me directly through the website. Thank you.
I went to Pioneerusa.com then support then home audio video then older models. They list a 49 and a 51. No 50. You can download any manual from their site for free. Is it a USA model? if not, post a comment and I will find the info for you. Hope this helps
Don't spend a lot of money for a universal remote. Radio Shack has some good buys. I think you are the same person who is having problems with a 305. Get rid of it. You can make a quantum leap at Amazon for less than $200 for a Pioneer.
when you find one, let me know
