I had a used SlideScan 4000 that I tinkered with trying to get working for 2 years with several computers, drivers from the web & firmware updates. It would scan a few slides then freeze. It seemed to depend on the memory, as I could scan 2-3 slides on low resolution before freezing, but stopped half way through the first slide on high resolution. I finally found that I had to go into Device Manager (I'm on Windows 7 - Ultimate) and delete all other imaging devices (well I think I was able to leave the computer's web cam on) to enable the device driver to load properly. I installed Cyberview X - which installs the driver but I am using Vuescan for my slides. I recall my dad having a similar problem getting another scanner to work on his computer. Apparently it is a common problem to have conflicts with scanner drivers if you have more than one on your computer.

Recently upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Where can I get correct drivers to run with my Nikon Super Coolscan slide scanner LS-4000 ED model. I have Nikon Scan 3.0 twain software. Stu Milligan

Hello there.
This will help you if you have 64-bit Windows 7, because officially, there is not windows 7 64 bit driver.
Just read and do everything.

http://www.earthboundlight.com/phototips/coolscan-vista-64.html
Otherwise, if you have windows 7 32bit click here:

To check bits, go right click on My Computer, Properties, and you will see it.

Not compatible with new computer windows 7

Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?
(making a program work with windows 7)

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:)) julyallan01_52.jpg

My Braun 3650 is scanning everything RED, I changed computers and is still scanning red, any idea why it's doing that?

See previous fix for black lines problem is likely the same i.e fractures in the flexible cable between the scanning head and mother board, changing this cable will likely cure this fault.

Random black lines on scanned slides

Normally dark lines are a speck of dirt sticking on to the glass and when scanned continuously, it appears as a line. Clean the glass thoroughly. Ensure the slides are dust free. If the lines are appearing in different locations, it means the dust gets removed while scanning. Line in the same place could be because of glass is scratched. The above is common with roller scanners.

For fat bed scanners, there will be no scratch on the glass. It must be from the slides/documents
