No sound in the system

Did you check if there is an audio device in the Device Manager (from the Control Panel -> System) ?
If not, you probably need to install the right audio driver for your computer.

Skype not working

Sir,

Click this link for more information........

http://support.skype.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=35

Also Check........

On a PC with external speakers and also a headset with microphone. Windows XP is configured so that standard audio are external speakers and standard microphone is the headset. Skype is configured to use the headset for audio in and out.

This way one can listen to sound from the PC and from MP3 players through external speakers and if there is a call to make or take, this is going through the headset.

But now there is the problem that the noise level for the headset is too low. Increasing volume has no effect on the headset, it only affects the external speaker's volume.

Now the solution: Going to the control panel and opening the sound setting, go to the audio tab. The external speakers are selected as default. Just temporarily select the headset and then click on volume just below. You can now set the volume for the headset, click OK and click cancel (!!!) on the sound control dialog box. This way the external speakers remain as default output.

Skype-->Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->audio device/USB/etc Audio Device (do NOT use windows default device)
You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even
if the main speakers are off or turned down.

Windows:
Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices
On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard(AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc.
Your installed audio device must be present there.
If not, reinstall audio device

thanks
good luck

How to setup your Sound.

Install the drivers for the sound device. If the sound hardware came with an installation disc, insert the CD into the drive and follow the prompts. If the sound device does not have a disc, contact the manufacturer or download the drivers from the manufacturer's website. To check the system for sound devices, go to "Start," "Control Panel" and "Sound and Audio Devices." The primary sound device will be shown in the top of this window. Step 2 Check the "Audio Devices" properties window for muted volume or the volume bar set to minimum. Either of these will cause the sound to not work. Step 3 Check "Device Manager" for improper settings or problems with the device. Go to "Start," "Control Panel" and "System," then select the "Hardware" tab, then press the "Device Manager" button. A list of hardware will be displayed. Audio devices are under "Sound Video and Game Controllers." The device will be titled the same as it appeared in the "Sound and Audio Devices" window in the "Control Panel." By double clicking on the device, it will display the properties. There is a selection at the bottom of the first tab that will display whether the device is "Enabled" or "Disabled." Any conflicts will also be given in the form of small exclamation marks. Step 4 Check the volume knob on the physical speakers.

No sound , sound drivers are working

Most common reasons for this trouble are:
  • Such kind of troubles arise after some device / software is installed which tries to gain control as default sound device.
  • Also while un-installation of certain softwares, some shared files are removed. At times some important shared file can be deleted which causes troubles with working of sound drivers.
  • While installing certain games, it tries to gain control of sound or video drivers and may accidentally harm these driver softwares.
Lets see the ways to fix such troubles

Step1 : First of all check what is your default audio device setting. For this, open Control Panel > Sounds and audio devices, open Audio tab as shown in picture below.
774a71c.jpg
See that the Device selected is your sound-card or on-board audio device. It should not be blank or some modem device. Set the Default sound playback and sound recording device correctly from the drop down menu. If your device is not there in this list see the step 2.

Step2: If the step 1 is not successful, it means that your sound device driver software has become either corrupt or has been accidentally un-installed. In such case, install the sound driver from the sound-card/mother-board driver CD. You can also download the latest driver if you don’t have the driver CD. After you install the driver, restart your computer, and then check the settings as in step 1 again

We have a picture but no sound on the laptop. Is it a case of the sound hardware been accidentally deleted from the laptop or has it just been turned off.

go to start>>control panel>>sound and audio devices
under the volume tab. see if you have a audio device install. if it is install, you should be abel to control the volum and make sure uncheck the mute button box.
if you don't see the aufio device, then you have to install the device.
go to control panel>>system>>device manger and see what type of audio device is listed.
if you can't fine it. check on manufacture web site to get the audio device and driver.
