Kenmore front load washer is leaking water from soap

This appears to be a common problem based upon the number of hits I see on all the repair sites. None of the other answers helped me - top one here did a little. If water is coming out the detergent drawer, the tube to the drum is blocked (like mine was) not a loose hose elsewhere. If you're luckier than I was, you won't need to take anything apart hardly. Take out the drawer (there is a black release on the back left). The drain tube to the drum is in front and down toward you so you can't see in. If you can feel something - you're in luck, take it out and you should be good to go. How in the heck anything gets in there is beyond me - it must come up from the drum.
I wasn't so lucky. My blockage - a sock now chewed up - was all the way at the bottom of the tube near the drum. You have to take off the whole front to get at it. Take the bottom off with 3 screws below. Take the top off with 3 screws in back. Take the control panel off with one hex screw on left and snaps off. Take the front / door assembly off with two screws on top - it doesn't totally come free nor does it need to. You have just enough room to get a hand in (carefully) and either from the top loosed squeeze clamp and reach down, or simply pull out bottom (it comes out rather simply by squeezing tube and bending in fringes). Wanted to say thank you to mrjharman for taking the time to post your fix because this is exactly the issue we had. How it came to be... during the final high speed spin cycle of the wash load prior to the water leaking through the dispenser, the machine starting making a very loud unnatural flapping noise. It sounded like a belt had fallen off and was flapping uncontrollably. Wanting to reproduce the problem I put in a small load. Right off the bat the water started coming out of the dispenser. This was the 1st time this happened so I looked up the dispenser leaking issue, came across this post, then followed the directions to take off the bottom, top, control panel and front of the washer. Pulled out the black dispenser tube and out comes an adult sock. How that sock got there I have no idea. I suspect the sock stuck in the tube was causing the odd flapping sound. While I was at it I opened the catch drain at the bottom of the washer (be prepared to collect the excess water) and removed a handful of corroded change, some screws, and a couple Legos. This was an easy fix compared to what I had envisioned the problem being and certainly saved me the cost of a service call.
