I had the Lenovo thinkpad SL500 sound buttons don't work? This trouble maybe power supply or inverter boards is defective.

Try to use the Lenovo Care buttons this way,

Turn off the pc completely
Use the Lenovo Care button situated just right beside the power button
Press and hold it for 5 seconds
If symptom persist, please call their tech support for possible repair of your pc..

Right click on a think pad

The sl500 includes 4 buttons on either side of the touchpad. The buttons on the right side of the touchpad are designated for a right-click by default. The menu key may also be used to simulate a right - click.

Dark monitor

Hello,
If your LCD screen on your laptop is really dark and pressing the brightness function keys does not make it any better then you probably have a failing backlight. This pretty much means, time to either replace the screen altogether or buy a new laptop.
You can get screens off ebay for about $130

Necesitas instalar el Lenovo Care Pack por Windows XP... Descargalo de aca.
Tambien, te recomendo actualizar el BIOS. Descarga la ultima edicion de aca.
El Rescue and Recovery tambien sera util... Descargalo de aca (version en Espanol).

My sound card is out of order of lenovo sl500. how i can change its sound card or use external sound card

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
you might have to uninstall then reinstall both the sound drivers and the sound card make sure you have both of these devices backed up to a disc before uninstalling
a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver to do this
right click to install driver also
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound,video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers select appropriate speakers also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have made the correct adjustments there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can make adjustments there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar

on the right on the taskbar to the left of the speaker and power symbols you should see the letters EN if not your key board is set wrong. let me know how you get on.

How can I mute the built-in microphone?

if you double click on the volume icon in the start bar..you can the go to propertys and see the volume comntrol for the mic and the pc speakers..you can mute it there

1. Take off the the power plug
2. take off the battery
3. press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds

Now try turning it on, if it still doesn't work, check in your manual how to RAM cover, and take the RAMs out (before you do this repeat stpes 1-3). After the ram is out, try turning it on if you hear sirens , that could be at least some indication that your motherboard is alive. if no sirens --- than you got bad news.

So at least you will now if there is a chance if the motherboard is not dead.
