Wont go past first screen

First try this unplug from AC, remove battery, plug in try to boot normally. If that fails Open BIOS, Boot Order or the BOOT MENU, Boot from HDD first, and save changes and reboot, if that fails try a system restore/recovery.

My gateway says "Check cable connection!PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key". What should I do?

Sounds like the hard drive isn't getting power, the data cable to the drive isn't connected,or the drive controller on the motherboard is toast(I'm a novice tinkerer, not an expert).

Pxe-m0f : Exiting intel pxe rom

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

CHECK CABLE CONNECTION..! PXE-E63 ERROR WHILE INITIALIZING THE NIC PXE-MOF EXITING INTEL PXE ROM NO BOOTABLE DEVICE---INSERT BOOT DISK AND PRESS AND KEY

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. Can you please try to go to Bios Page, On the Boot option make sure that the First Boot Priority is the Hard Drive. After that can you please save the settings and check if you will be able to boot to windows.
The error occurs because it is looking for the drive that your operating system is installed. Can also make sure to remove all removable devices connected to the computer. Let me know what happen so that we can proceed to the next step.
Thanks

It says check cable connection! PXE-E63:Error while initializing the NIC PXE-MOF:Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

This could mean a few different things:

1.) Your hard drive is bad.
2.) Your hard drive cable is bad.
3.) The cable that connects to your hard drive is loose.

If you are under warranty, I would advise you to contact the MFG. to have them replace the drive or check it out for you.

Upon startup before anything else happens (except asking me if I want to press f2 for setup) my aspire one netbook says: For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller... v1.0.0.5(1/22/09) check cable...

Press F2 and enter setup as it looks like your device is set to boot from the network instead of your C drive. You can change the boot order in the setup.
