If the machine does not start.
Make sure the circuit breakers or fuses are functional in the main electrical panel.
Try to turn them OFF and ON again.
You might need to check the thermal or non thermal fuses inside your washer.
If all appears in working order, you might have a burnt motor if no noise comes from it when you pull out the knob.

How to replace timer knob on Maytag PAV 2300 aww, old one snapped off leaving just the stem

This is from another site but does a good job of explaining how to change your timer:
http://www.the-appliance-clinic.com/myttimer.html
The hardest part will be swapping the knob because you have to lift the top of it off and sometimes they can be fiesty.
WORDS OF CAUTION.

DO NOT pull all the wires off of the OLD timer. DO a ONE for ONE wire swap. i.e pull one wire from the old timer... and hook it up to the new one on the exact same terminal as the old timer.

I NEED TO REMOVE THE FRONT OF THE WASHING MACHINE T

There are 2 screws down toward the bottom of the front of your washer. You remove these and grab the front panel and pull toward you and up and the 2 clips at the top will snap out. Hope this helps!

When washer finishes there is a dripping of water inside unit

What has happened is you have sand in your water valve from your water. This pluggs the water valve and also sticks it open so when the water valve shuts of there is still a small trickle of water coming through the washer. Replace the water and it will fix the problem (no way of cleaning the inside of the valve.) Replace water valve.

Removing the top

the pressure sensor is inside the control panel, the panel is screwed closed from the rear
you initially check that the plastic air line is attached at top and bottom
top is easy
to reach the bottom
the top of the washer must be removed, unlock the two metal clips at the front ~3 inches from the edges by sliding a putty knife or other blunt blade between the front panel and the top
tilt up the top
visully inspect the air line running from the top left to the bottom of the drum/tank

usually the top comes off
test that first,
because if the bottom is off, there would be water running all over the floor as the pressure sensor attaches below water line

if both hose ends are attached remove the top end and blowe down it, any water in the line messes up pressure readings

the water level sensor is adjustable
remove the water level sensor body from the control panel, there is a lock clip on the right side of the control body
there is a 1/8th nut next to the shaft the knob sits on
clockwise to raise water level
counterclockwise to lower water level
if turning the adjuster has no effect, the spring inside has broken, not weakened, and the control body should be replaced.
water level control bodies are common to many models and makes, the local parts store will have a suitable one, even if labelled ge or kenmore instead of maytag
