Suddenly My e300 wont accept a memory card. when the card is OUT of the camera it works perfectly (screen lights up menu works and shutter releases normally) but when a card is inserted it is dead. just a couple of lights flash (sswf and the red light on the back of the camera flash intermittently) but screen dead and camera dead. I tried two different cards and they both have the same effect. I looked at the pins in the card slot and they all seem to be intact. I really like my camera and don't want to throw it away!! Peter.
I have the same problem! I've tried 3 different memory cards and none of them work. Let me know if anyone finds a solution to this problems. I even upgraded the filmware....no change.

Have you tried pressing the 'INFO' button? This little button will toggle between camera info on display/no info on display (when the display isn't in use to display pictures).
Please format memory card by going to camera Menu options in
DZ-BX35E and try. If problem still exist, then memory card slot could be damaged. Check new memory card in other camera to verify that card is OK.
Try updating the firmware on your camera to the latest version using the Olympus master software. There have been several revisions since the camera came out.
Check out the pins in the base of the card chamber- are any missing or bent?
Next check out Mirror action- is it working?
Try to get onto the Olympus Tech Support team.
If it is broken I think a repair will not be an option- the cost if possible will be well on the way to the next camera
This is my camera too - lovely under rated beasts
