I have a 4000 watt onan generator in a 1978 winnebago. It runs fine but there is a short somewhere. It blows the f1 fuse immediately and it doesnt put out any ac power. It also draws the batteries down if you leave the main powerwire hooked to the solenoid on the generator. A schematic or any suggestions would be helpfull. Thank you.

I'd say you probably have to have the gfi receptacle replaced. The gfi recepts can be pretty touchy sometimes. The test and reset buttons sometimes stick or do not reset due to just being old and not used very often. I am an electrician and we see this alot. I try and test mine often as I can remember to do it. If you are not qualified or experienced with this type of work please find someone who is. If you do attempt the change out, just please do it with the power to the outlet off!! Be careful around electricity! Good luck, I hope you find the right solution!

Hi, The 4000 rv unit unit is equipped with full diagnostics, and is indicated by the status light blinking. The blinking sequence, blinks a code as to the fault. If your unit runs and the status light is on without blinking, it is either the circuit breaker on the genset or in your distribution panel that needs to be reset. Good Luck, this should Fixya!

synthetic? not sure about that one there may be oil pres switch that could give you a problem.
