A spark that causes a snapping noise when a burner is turned on.

We thoroughly cleaned the burners, but when we put the cooktop back together, we hear a snap every time we turn on a burner. When the two burners on the right are turned on, there is one snap and it stops. But when we turn on any of the four left burners, an electric spark continually occurs on all four burners while any of the four are burning.

The ignitor keeps sparking and won't stop.Do not

First of all, the model number is under the cooktop bottom, and secondly, this can happen due to the burner switches got wet somehow. Best thing to do is to unplug unit for 6-12 hours, allow to dry, then re-plug unit back in, this should be enough time to dry out the burner switches.
Good luck

I have the star burner model, w/ extra-low simmer. The center burner will not light at all by itself. The right rear burner will self-ignite if you turn it to low, and then slowly rotate the knob clockwise...

Center burner won't light: If there is a bright spark (check all ignitor points at night with the lights out and look for consistent brightness of the sparks) then it's likely that the burner slots are dirty or the air/gas mix is wrong. If you can light with a match, but the spark won't light, then go for cleaning the entire burner assembly thoroughly with a brass bristle brush (available at most automotive stores). The proper air/gas mix has to flow over the spark to ignite. Weak spark, improper air/gas or misdirected gas flow that misses the spark can all cause this issue.

RR burner lights only on low setting. Again, check the air gas mix and clean all parts. Something like a small spider web inside the air mix chamber (area between the orifice and the burner can cause this and is difficult to see. Disassemble, clean thoroughly, reassemble and test. Extra low simmer burners (two on the left side) use their own control module with electric gas valves and variable electric control switches. The burner works on low, so these are not likely the problem.

Most folks want to find a bad part, and that can happen, but stove tops get dirty and cleaning usually helps. If not, you have a clean top to work on.

The indicator lens and/or the retainer are either broken or the retainer is missing. It's best to replace these as they are not expensive. When the top is off while cleaning is an perfect time to replace the lens.

When you turn the burner on, it makes a popping noise and will not stop.

You're gas burner has an electronic ignition that you're hearing. Sometimes they can get gunked up and become sticky. If you have been using the stovetop regularly and this problem suddenly appeared, we can assume that the power grounding and polarity are correct. If this is all true, then an igniter or igniters are either wet or dirty. Unplug the electricity and thoroughly clean the burner pieces and specifically the igniters (little separate cylinder next to each burner) with a sponge or other non-abrasive dishrag and hot soapy water. Make sure all the burners and igniters are completley dry, plug unit back into electric outlet. If problem persists, call an authorized repair person as you may need 1 or more igniters replaced.
Good luck

Remove all the burners and thoroughly clean in warm to hot soap and water. Do the same for the burner seats on the cooktop.

Dead burner on kitchenaid gas cooktop?

it is strange that you have no gas and no spark! if you held a match to the burner and turned the burner valve on it would lite di spite a failed ignitor, but for it not to lite, the burner valve[its what the knob attaches too] would have to be blocked[thats rare]or ........i got it .....the knob is broken.thats the only thing the burner valve and the spark ignitor have in common.try a knob from another burner................again.you have spark, because others are working.spark on troubled burner would work if valve blocked at orifice outlet, and if spark failed you would still get gas they work independent of each other,[but in unison].thats why im thinking knob.its the item that works both .when you turn the knob it opens the gas valve and as the gas valve rotates by turning the knob it activates or turns the spark switch so it closes the curcit allowing the electricty to the spark moduel.hey i hope that helps a little. God bless ,tom
