Can only hear callers in speaker mode. When speakerphione is off, DTMF doesn't seem to work and I can't hear the caller, yet they can hear me

This is not a setting problem, the problem is that the earpiece of your phone is bad that is why you cannot hear callers voice.

The speaker you put it is for the ringer, it does not have anything to do with earpiece and you can hear your caller through it.

To fix your earpiece problem because you cannot be putting your phone on speakers always because atimes you will want privacy.

To fix the earpiece problem, you will need to replace the earpiece on your phone in other for you to hear your caller. just change the earpiece as advice and you will see that the problem is solve.

if you cant hear caller voice. do one thing go to gallery and go to voice recorder and record some voice then save that then go to media and play recorded sound if its working means your loud speaker is working but not ear peic means (ear speaker) not working. so then you need to change ear speaker.you can do your self just watch video on online.

Well if the phone has been bought abroad and being used in India you will face this problem. this is because of the format of transmitting the caller id info being different. In USA it is STF and in India it is DTMF. You need a convertor in the phone line which is DTMF to STF. IF you find onw in Delhi pl let me also know.

Go to phone menu find, caller id heading, there is an option for FSK & DTMF , if you are in india Select DTMF, if it doesn't work ask telephone seller to provide you with Fintel FSK to DTMF convertor.

I learnt that in India DTMF is used while in US it is FSK for Caller ID`s.
Get a EX220 converter and put it in between your Tel and system

Any Caller Id phone bought in USA will not show the id as the Caller id format in USA is FSK and in India it is DTMF. You need a caller id converter from DTMF to FSK. It is available online on www.ebay.in Just type DTMF to FSK converter and the item will be displayed. Right now it is avilable only with a seller in Bangalore and the price is Rs.589/- per piece. I bought it and it is working fine.

I paid R500 but you couldprobably get it for around R400 if you are willing to put in the timebargaining. It looks like they are also available on Indian Ebay.

Mine says UST001B. It looks like these are low volume items becausethey stuck the components into a box marked "DSL Splitter" It works toconvert the caller ID as advertised.

US phones use Bellcore FSK caller id. India uses DTMF caller id. Buy a DTMF- FSK converter at a telecom shop.

For people who have purchased cordless phone in usa and caller id is not working they should purchase fsk to dtmf converter at any local phone shop and caller id will start working.

There are 3 major caller ID specifications in the world: DTMF, ETSI FSK and Bellcore FSK. When users buy a foreign telephone devices(such as cordless phone, fax machine or computer telephony interface), may encounter the problems of non-match for caller ID standard. This will cause the device unable to display the caller ID. EX220 can solve this problem easily.
