Sounds like you have another infared source that the LCD is seeing. Put opaque tape over the infared receiver and see if the issue continues. Look for another IR device in the area.
This could be caused by poor ventilation on the unit. The back of TV sets where the air vents are usually located are meant to be easily accessible to air. When they do not have enough air then the Tv tends to shut itself down due to overheating when it geths too hot. Try relocating the TV position to an airy environment. The unit has a timer function and a Sleep timer function. Have you ensured both of these are not on?
If thy are off I would guess that either a button is bad and inducting a control signal to the controller or the controller itself is bad and just randomly is setting on and off times at random.
