I had the same problem on the Gateway 2701HG-B supplied from ATT. From searching the web, I learned these variety of modems apparently have an expiration date on the power cord at abotu 18 mos to 2 years. Mine is almost exactly at 2 yrs.

I replaced the power cord and now it works fine. You can order the OEM replacement from att e-store or try Radio Shack for a universal cord.

I am trying to hook up to my new comp. and new internet and the lights come on for the wireless, wired and router r green then the modem light is red, what am i doing wrong

There is nothing wrong with your modem. There are modems that when you turn it on, the wireless, dsl lights are green while the power light is red then after a few seconds, the green lights disappear and the red light will turn green. After sometime green light will come back on. This means your modem is restarting and doing a self check.
If the power light stays red, then you a have a problem with your modem.

No internet

If the power light is red this is a system error.

Try to reset the router by holding and pressing the reset button for 10 seconds. Then power cycle the router.

If the power light is still red. It is possible that the router is already defective.

After a power failure, the internet light in my router is red. I tried all the usual, switching on and off, resetting, disconnecting from phone and power line for several hours. Nothing makes the internet...

a red led usually indicates an error or defect. if removing the power for several minutes (or hours like you did) does not reset the error, then i'm afraid that you will have to replace the device completely. however, the root cause may still be found before the router. have you tried unplugging and replugging the modem as well?

Power Light Is Red, Internet Light Is Green, Other Lights Off

Check cable connections.

Try unplugging router from power for five minutes.

If that does not work call Internet Service provider to check if there is a problem with their server.

Internet cutting on and off

If you haven't done a firmware upgrade I think doing so will be of a benefit to your problem! Just remember to backup your router settings beforehand! Hope this helps!

2Wire 473 router problem

Take the modem and plug it into a GFCI outlet. You can find one in the bathroom or the kitchen.

If the power light comes on solid green and the dsl comes on red then the modem is good. Was it plugged into a power strip by the computer? If so, plug it straight into a wall outlet.

If the power light comes on solid red then the modem has hardware failure. I would contact your ISP and have them replace it if it is still underwarranty.

No lights(lits)on WLAN-No acces from the computer

WLAN light will give you the status of your wireless connection. If WLAN light is off, it might be a possibility that wireless has been turned off or worse is the device had stopped broadcasting a wireless signal. you may try using 192.168.1.1 to get into the setup page of the device to check if wireless has been disabled.

Status light is red

Hi, Based on your post/description, the Siemens AP/Router is at fault. This could have been brought about by lightning, power surge, plain hardware failure or system/software error. The red status light - on indicates an error (on the firmware)(blinking during start-up or when firmware is being downloaded/updated); WAN light blinking green - data transmission to/from your ISP (it is also possible that the router is trying to download corrective software or firmware update). Suggest you let it run for sometime just in case it is really downloading/upgrading firmware. If full reset of the router doesn't correct the problem, you may have to replace the unit. Good luck and kind regards.
