My Maytag microwave stopped heating. Everything

My Maytag microwave stopped heating. Everything else seems to work, but no heat. The light is on, the turntable works, the timer works. Just no heat. I was heating a large pan of sauce for an extended time (15 minutes) when I noticed that it was not getting hot.

Benjamin, is too general your advice, the problem can be the micro switch, or internal HV circuit ONLY. AGREE?????

Generally the magnetron (the part that heats the food) is the cause if everything else still works. Unfortunately replacing the magnetron is barely cheaper than buying a new microwave though you can check out repairclinic.com to decide whether you want to attempt replacing the part.

Let me know how this works out for you.

Usually when it doesn't het there is a problem with either the magnetron or one of the power tranistors. You would have to get a shop to tell you what the problem is as it can be a few things. If you have warrenty either maytags or from the store just find out from the store/maytag where the repair depot is. They will either repair or replace it. If no warrenty then don;t do anything without getting an estimate. It may be just as cheap to buy a new microwave.

MICROWAVE NOT HEATING

Most likely you have a magnetron problem. Easy to replace (DYI) but make sure the high voltage capacitor is fully discharged first against the case.

The microwave runs but doesn't cook the food. It made sort of vibrating noise and stopped heating. Everything else seems to be working.

HI. this is called Magnetron failure. you will need to replace this failed device. it is responsible for the heating of the contents.

Microwave won't heat.

Magnatron is suspect. Need to put a voltmeter and see if the input (primary) side to the high-voltage transformer (big heavy iron thing in there) is getting 120Vac. Don't touch the other (high voltage) side of this transformer. If the power is there, you are looking at replacing the magnatron. Its affordable if you do it yourself - buy the part on EBAY - lookup "universal magnatron"
