The channel search wont pick up any channels nor will the channel update but they work on my other TVs

You may have a bad tuner in this set, if the rear audio/video inputs work with a DVD etc you can get a cable box and connect to a rear input and bypass the entire problem.

My 2004 GE 52" hdtv

If you need a tube replacement, your best bet is to get a used one from ebay. You need to verify the numbers on the side of the tube. Note: this is a very hazardous part to be handling. If you do not have an electronics background I strongly suggest you not attempt to replace, then re-align the tv.

I have a ge 42 inch rear projection tv. The colors are crossed and I was wondering if this is bnecause of the lenses out of alignment? if so, how can I adjust it? there is no setting for alignment.

It is possible, that the type of connection you have to your TV are crossed.

With COMPONENT cables, you have 3 plugs, red green and blue.

If this is the case, correct the plugs location to the correct plug.

Lens alignment results in a fuzzy (diffused) picture.

outside of that I too am at a loss.

good luck and don't forget to vote!!!

HD PICTURE

Use your input button on your television's remote control.... you should have plugged the wires into the COMP 1 area on the back of your TV.  You will also need to make sure your red and white audio cables are plugged in as well (Five total plugged wires) Press the input button until you see COMP1 at the bottom of the screen... there you will find your picture and sound.
