You have a bad output transister in receiver this is common for the 2 channel Sherwoods. Not worth fixing if your not inclined in the electronic field. It will cost more than the receiver to fix. Sorry for the bad news Good luck.

No sound and light on input selector knob is Flashing. Light only flashes when speaker switch has been turned to A, B or A&B.

This can happen if there's a dead short in a speaker wire or if you're using very low impedance loudspeakers at high volume for an extended length of time. If the protection light came on due to a speaker wire short, low impedance condition or a bad speaker, the receiver's power will need to be turned off to reset it. Before turning the power back on, all speaker wire connections should be checked for their integrity at the receiver side and at the speaker side. If the protection light goes on immediately after you turn on the receiver, disconnect the speaker wires at the receiver side and retest. If the receiver's protection light goes off, then there would still seem to be a problem with one channel's speaker wires or speakers. Connecting them one by one and retesting should allow you to find the problem speaker or connection.

Radio turns on speakers connected ok but no sound when tuned into any station

Without the make & model of your receiver, I can offer only generic solutions. Turn the volume DOWN to a normal level - if the speakers suddenly turn on it may startle you or damage the speakers.

In no specific order - here's what I suggest to do: Check connections at receiver's speaker terminals and at the speaker's terminals. Note the speaker system (A or B if a choice of terminals are offered). Check and reset or replace any overload device or fuse for the speakers. Make sure the speaker selector switch is set to a valid speaker system A or B (most people have one speaker system and wire speakers to "A" and leave B unused), change it from "Off", "B" or "Phones" to "A". Make sure that the headphone / earphone jack isn't being used. Disable the "Tape Monitor" selection.

If none of the these suggestions worked for you, please provide the receiver make & model. If one did, please rate my reply "very helpful". Thanks!

Trying to connect two outdoor speakers

More than likely you connected it to the Speaker B terminals in the rear of your receiver. Look for a button or switch on the front and change to either Speaker B for outside only or A&B for indoors and outdoors.

Only the front speakers work none of the surround speakers

If you are still covered by the warrenty, then you may be able to get it fixed at no cost.

Otherwise get a qualified technician (I say this to cover my but rather than suggesting that you open it up yourself) to open it up and check the fuses inside.

Denon AVR-1706 Left Front and Rear speakers stopped working. Any suggestions?

go into the settings menu and do a sound test using the recievers pink noise tester to test each speaker connected, if while doing this test you still get no sound from those two speakers check connections, make sure speakers are not blown.
if speakers and connections are good then the reciever needs repair

Right side audio valume not working

Do you mean that the right speaker which is routed through the subwoofer's Speaker Level In and Out is not working? Did it all start when you added the subwoofer?

Perform some isolation and connect that speaker directly to your receiver to see if it works.

YES? Recheck the speaker connections. After all, the sub is only connecting your receiver to the speakers after borrowing LFE information. Observe matching + and - polarity throughout.

NO? Either the speaker or the Receiver channel have a problem, but that isn't likely if the problem appeared just from putting the subwoofer into the mix. You can swap speakers to eliminate them and swap source amplifier channels to isolate them.

HK AVR 120 (left speaker not working)

Hi, your analysis are right, your speakers has no problem, the problem is in your receiver.
there are several factors that affects it, try some troubleshooting: and answer this questions:

1. During this event, what is the source of your INPUT audio signal?
Have you tried to replaced your RCA cables that connected to the source of your receiver?

If YES, then problem really exist in the internal system of your receiver. may be you have overdrive your receiver unintentionally, which cause the Power Amplifier to malfunction,

On this event, I would suggest that you bring your receiver to it's Service Center for repair,
This problem needs technical troubleshooting of a qualified technician.

New alpine speakers just stopped working on one side of my car and don't know what to do

Just check the wiring connection from receiver to your speaker, try to interchanges the left and right or to one side and to other side,so we know that the speaker is the problem .If happens still only one side is working even you interchange, then the problem is the speaker. If happens the speaker from left to right is working then the right to left is not works then the problem is the one side of the amplifier section is defected maybe the IC chip is busted or just loose, crack or cold solder joint. If cold solder only then reworks the solder joints in amplifier section. Then if the speaker is defected just reworks the solder connection of the speaker only .If still not working even you resolder the speaker then thats is the time you replaced the speaker...

Hope this may help;

Sound not coming from left side surround sound speaker or my right side front speaker

it is highly likely that you're TV is outputting mono sound, hence the left channel only. check your physical connections to the TV and the balance / channel volume on the television as well.
