GE WDSR2120J wash cycle sound

Hi,
We've got a GE WDSR2120J. When it's in the wash cycle, it makes a chiga-cha, chiga-cha, chiga-cha-cha-cha sound repetitively. Sounds like something is rubbing. The spin sounds normal. Any guess as to what's wrong?

    Hi,
Thank you so much for the quick response.

I checked and you are correct. The pulley is rubbing on the bottom of the cabinet. It looks possible to tighten up the four rods suspending the drum. Does that make sense?

    Thanks again

It's possible that the tub suspension system is out of position. Open the cabinet top (use a thin putty knife in each front corner to release a spring clip) and watch the mechanism while washing. Try shaking the assembly to see if you can spot something rubbing. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the rating. Whatever will relieve the rubbing is the correct repair. Make sure the mechanism is hanging straight down--is the cabinet level? There are adjustable feet on the bottom of the cabinet to correct the level. Glad to have been of help!

Where is washing machine filter in wdsr2120j

No filter. Thats with front loaders. Water left in the tub is two issues. #1 Kinked drain or clogged hose. If that is OK then your drain pump is bad and needs replacing.

Hi, The last two washes i've just done on my Hotpoint WD72, the washing has gone full cycle but has come out smelling damp. Any ideas? I've had it since 2005 when it was new.

This will potentially sound odd, but run the 90 degree cycle with 3 dishwasher tablets in the drum. The smell is bacterial and probably the result of a build up of residue from biological soap powder (Which is simply bacteria that eat your stains). Dishwasher tablets are anti-bacterial and will kill the bugs making the smell

GE Profile WPRE6100G Top Load Washer My washer is 2 yrs old and has started to make a loud metalic banging noise during the wash cycle. It does not during the spin cycle. Doesn't seem to matter whether...

Hi!!
The "Metallic banging/clicking" sound you hear is the Shifter mechanism engaging or disengaging.
The drive system will engage at the start of the Agitate Cycle and disengage when the Agitate Cycle is complete. This occurs multiple times during the wash. GE claims this is a normal sound and should not be concerned about it. Check page 10 of your Operating Manual, if you do not have a manual, click on this link to download one http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90323.PDF

Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi- Sounds like your drain pump is bad, or clogged. Not easy to get to. It could also be a timer issue or an issue with your pressure switch which tells the washer when the water is out and it can go into spin mode. Sounds like you need to have someone out to take a look.

We have a GE top load washer with the model number WDSR2120J. It new (almost 13 months old so the warranty has just expired.) When we turn it on, it won't stop filling up when it is full. Bubbles then come...

Hello Friend, You either have a bad water level/pressure switch or your water inlet valve is bad. If you unplug the washer from the wall and the water stops filling into the washer, then it's not the water inlet valve. If it only continues to fill when wash cycle is started then you will need to replace the water level/pressure switch behind control panel. Also, the pressure supply tube connected to water level/pressure switch may have a hole in it or a bad connection, or possibly plugged up. This rubber tube must have an airtight seal at both ends to perform properly. be sure to check this item also. Happy to help, Tim.
