Usually under the menu function there is an aspect ratio adjustment. At that point you're going to end up with an 18.5" monitor with black letter box on each side.

Not sure what your cable box outputs but connect your cable box to a tv and try changing the resolution of your cable box to 1600x900 or less if there is such a setting; the monitor will not display resolutions higher than 1600x900
You need to set the PC video resolution to 1600 x 900 for proper 16:9 wide screen format. But if your pictures that you taken with your camera were not 16:9, IE 4 X 5 then it will be stretched side way to fill the screen.
right click on your desktop and select "properties" (xp) or "personalization" (vista/7). In xp, select the "settings" tab, and in vista/7, select "display settings". then adjust your screen resolution to a wider aspect ratio to compensate for the wide screen.
This is because your screen is widescreen and it is hard to get the dimensions right because when you look at the monitor, the aspect ratio is unusual. You would have to manually adjust your monitor settings (using the buttons on the side of the monitor) to make it look like a normal screen.
Make sure to use the native resolution of your screen in your video
settings (desktop-properties-), I believe it is 1600 x 900. Then it should look ok.
Right click on your desktop Click Properties Click on the Settings Tab It will say resolution with a sliding bar, you can move that around untill you find the right aspect ratio. Try 1024x768..
In the display properties you can adjust your resolution (aspect ratio).
1. Right click in an open area on your desktop and go to properties.
2. The display properties window will appear. Click on the "SETTINGS" tab.
3. You can adjust the resolution one notch at a time to find the aspect you're looking for. NOTE: by clicking on "APPLY" instead of "OK" you can see the affects of your change without closing the window down. This will allow you to easily change it again without having to reopen the display properties windows over and over again.
