I have a Sta-rite pool heater , model number SR200NA that is giving me a E01 Error code on the panel and the service heater light is lit on the unit. My owners manual does not specify the E01 error code in the owners manual? What actions should I take to resolve the problem. Heater is inoperable?

Between the two water pipes on the left side of the manifold is a two inch plug. When you take this plug out the thermal regulator assembly will come with it.It consists of "O" rings, a spring and what looks like a thermostat in a car. This is the probal bad part although it could be the spring also. You can get these parts seperatly or in a kit. If this is an older heater the kit is the way to go so you get all the nessary "O" rings and you will be covered on everything you need.

SOURCE: Ref: Sta-Rite Max-E 400. Pool temp is about 75

Your temp sensor has gone bad and will need to be replaced. It's a small tube that slides into the water manifold and you can follow the wires back to the board. Just unplug and set a new one in place.

SOURCE: shows r 5 code when power is turned on. sta-rite

The R5 is a sequence code in the boot up sequence where your error is occuring. There is nothing in the users manual for these pool heaters that explains this error. Your best bet, unfortunately, is going to be to call Sta Rite. Here is their customer service number: 1-800-831-7133

The sta-rite maxitherm heater I am asking about is for an inground pool

I would like you to try a reset of the system. Turn off the power on the heater, then turn off the circuit breaker that goes with the heater. Wait about 20 minutes and then try and start the heater. If it still will not power up, turn the display panel over, there are diagnostic lights on the back side. If the light is on next to the AFS, that is the Air Flow Switch.

E01 fault and service light on

If you are still seeing the EO1 error code, turn over the display panel and see if there is a RED light next to a set of letters. Whatever the light is next to, that would be the cause of the error code.
