I have an old 2 piece bench grinder that was working fine until I had to move it. After I moved it I tried to use it and the belt was spinning fine but the wheel wasn't turning. I changed the belt since I had a spare but no help. After addingemoving some washers I have been able to get the wheel to spin but not nearly as fast as I need it to sharpen lawnmower blades. Any suggestions much appreciated!
Could be a belt tension issue. Try tensioning the belt by moving the motor and wheels farther apart by reanchoring the units,or,spanning the gap between units with a series of wood blocks and shims(wedges).Be careful with tensioning. Always manualy move the belt, unit unplugged. There should be some deflection(play) in the belt when pressed upon with a finger.
