My computer will turn on but my monitor does not get a signal and I've tried this on two working monitors and two different power chords. The lights on the keyboards don't even work. Any solution?

I was just dealing with this last night. My pc would come on, but I kept getting a "No Signal" message on my monitor. I first plugged the machine into a known working monitor. It worked fine so that eliminated the video card issue. Then I plugged the monitor into a different computer...it too worked. So I knew that the monitor was good. I then switched the cord from the faulty monitor and still didn't get a signal. I proceeded investigating the issue. I found that if you boot the machine in safe mode, it actually caught a signal. So...I figured it must be something to do with the resolution. My solution: Boot the machine in safe mode, change the resolution in the control panel and reboot the machine. If it doesnt catch the signal booting in safe mode, I suspect it is a faulty video card. You are likely to find what you are looking for online at zipzoomfly.com or newegg.com

Dell E2009W Monitor has no signal with my computer

It could be that the monitor is defective. Try using it in a different computer. All monitors are compatible on any computer.

My Insignia Monitor doesn't work with my laptop, I've tried everything, from pc settings to cables, etc, i only receive a NO SIGNAL ad

Usually you have to toggle the display output on the laptop. The FN key + one of the F# keys with a monitor icon on it. Toggle it until it outputs to the monitor. Your getting "no signal" because no signal is being sent to the monitor or you have the monitor on the wrong input if it has multiple inputs.

When my computer says check signal cable what does it mean?

Your monitor is telling you that it thinks it is not receiving a video signal from the computer. You need to verify which of three components is not working, the computer, the cable, or the monitor.

The first thing to do, obviously, is to check that the cable connecting the computer to monitor is good. You will need some extra components to do the checking. I'm going to assume that the cable is detachable at both ends.
First you can try replacing the cable with different one. If the replacement cable works, then it's the cable.
Secondly, you can try different monitor. If you connect this in place of the first monitor, and it works, it's a faulty monitor (needs repairing or replacing).
Third try a different computer with the original cable and monitor, if it all works it looks like the video on your PC has malfunctioned. (This might also be your conclusion if a system comprising a different cable and monitor fails to work with the original PC)
You might just be able to verify the cable by testing the connectivity of all the wires in the cable with a meter, if you knew the pin out of the cable at both ends.
If you find out the computer is getting a signal out, there could be many causes for that, each having its own solution (or not as the case may be)

Acer ASpire M1100 shows No Signal on monitor

Any time a monitor says "no signal" that message is originating from the monitor itself, and not from the computer. A monitor in a room by itself with no computer will say "no signal" for a brief time, if it is turned on. So, if you have tried other monitors also with no luck, then the problem is either the video adapter of the computer, or something that is keeping the computer from booting in the first place (power supply, hard drive, memory, motherboard). A power supply can be tested with an inexpensive tool. Everything else needs either a swap out with a known good stand-in, or else an expensive tool to know if it works.Does the fan come on when you turn the computer on? If so, maybe more likely to be the motherboard, hard disk, or memory. If not, more likely to be the power supply.

My acer monitor p191w will turn on acer logo comes on goes black then a screen comes out saying no signal then turns of light turns yellow ...tried restarting monitor nothing

Connect the monitor to a different computer, to see if the monitor works at all.

Connect a different monitor to your computer, to see if your computer really is "sending" a video-signal through the "data" cable. If not, then either the data-cable or the video-card inside the computer is faulty.

Monitor screen lights up for only a second then gives "No Signal Input" error message. I've rebooted both the computer and unplugged the monitor to start to no avail

Have you tried plugging the monitor to a different computer? This will tell you if the monitor is bad if it works correctly in another computer then most likely your video card has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

Says No Signal but I clearly just pluggd it in and turned it on, and yes my computer is on

The "no signal" message is telling you there is no output from the computer. The output signal switches on the monitor, so if not there, check your cables and connections. If you have another monitor, try connecting it instead, and see if it works. This is an unusual problem, so keep trying. Connect the monitor to another computer, such as a laptop, and see if it works. If the monitor on another computer works, obviously it the first computer. If the first computer works with the second monitor, it's the first monitor.

Dell P1110

Hi, The part where you see some color bars and blinking green led is what we call MONITOR SELF TEST. A diagnostic pattern consisting of four colors (red, green, blue and white) appears, and the LED flashes slowly. this happens when signal cable from the monitor is disconnected from the tower and leaving the power chord for the monitor plugged in. If the monitor works properly on a different computer. then its a problem with the computer's video card sending out signal. im 85% sure that its a problem with your video card.
