Westinghouse washer lT609s - tap problem

Hi,
the automatic cut-off for the taps in my medium sized top-loading washing machine appears to have stopped working. If the taps are turned on at the wall, they're filling the machine, regardless of where it is in the cycle. At the moment I have to stand over the machine and turn the taps on and off manually depending on the stage of the cycle. Is there anything I can do or check myself before calling in a tradesman?
thanks,
KP

If I understand you correctly ... your washer keeps filling with water and you must shut them off at the wall to stop the water from coming into it?

this is a stuck water valve .. there may be something in your water valve keeping it open...

unhook your hoses and check them..

hope this helps

Machine lost power during wash cycle.

If the electricity does power off in the middle of washing cycles the washing machine will turn off then. Some of the most common problems that will make your washer turn off during mid cycle can include thermostat failure or issues filling up with water for the rinse cycles or even problems with the pump and the hose that can stop your washer from draining the water. You should call a person that fixes washing machines to have a look and see what the problem is with your washing machine.

Water underneath unit

Check your water hoses may be leaking behind the machine or at the tap.If the hose is leaking turn all taps off. the alloy crimp needs to be cut off & put a hose clamp on the hose.turn all taps off when machine has finished the wash.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call to confirm that it is not something else- like the control board not feeding the correct voltage to the valve ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

tap will be 1/2 or 5/8 bsp you need to know which and get a 3/4bsp to 1/2 or 5/8 reducer. 3/4bsp is standard size now. Or change the taps to standard size. just realized you may not be uk in which case this may not apply . look in your manual for connection size.

Water leaking (dripping) into the drum when machine is off. Drip is coming from where water dispenses into the machine to fill the drum.

Hi just read your posting. The fault with your machine is a faulty water valve.1st turn off the cold tap to the machine and leave for a couple of hrs.If the dripping stops you have a faulty cold valve. If the dripping does not stop then turn off the hot tap and that should stop the leak.Either way to fix this fault a water valve must be replaced.Or you can stop the drip by just turning the taps off after the washing has finished.Hope this helps and please reply for further help if needed.
