Please follow the steps:

1.Open the router page (192.168.0.1)
2.Enter the username and password
3.ClickWireless settings and fill the section as mention

Name(SSID)-As per your choice
Region-As per your location
Channel-6
Mode-Auto

Security options
WEP

Security Encryption
Authentication-Automatic
Encryption strength-64bit

Security Encryption key
Key1-type a 10 digit password

Click Apply. Turn off the router for 30 seconds and turn it on again.

I hope this will resolve the issue.

Incase Open networks are configured for MAC authentication(MAC binding) then you might not be able to connect to those networks. Even though Network is Open (Unsecured), if ACL (Access Control List) is enabled on the network then only those computers can connect whose MAC address is configured for that Network, its another Security feature on Routers.

Try connecting to some network which your are sure are Open (Unsecured)

find your SID network and delete it.

Log in to the router, check Wireless settings, Security is in the same area. I find that WPA-PSK[TKIP] is the easiest type to use, as you can use pretty much any sort of password longer than 7 characters. This can be done with the wired connection.

New HP laptop will not connect to wireless secure network

Problem solved. I disabled the security on my network. I connected the new laptop to the unsecure network. I saved the settings on the laptop for the unsecure network. I rebooted the laptop. I re-enabled security on the router. I tried to connect to the network. I got an error on the laptop saying the network saved settings did not match. I modified the settings to a secure network on the laptop and saved the 128 bit key. Rebooted everything. All works fine now.
