I have a Kenmore 70 series. About 10 years old. The inside light comes one, the timer ticks when turned but nothing happens when I push the start button. We have already checked the breaker. Is there...

you either have a blown thermostat, blown thermal fuse, or a bad heating element most likely a blown thermostat

email me if you need more help in replacing or testing

I have a Kenmore Series 70 dryer wont start, just hums

Check for correct voltage at the terminal block on the back of the dryer, where the power cord attaches to the dryer. You should be getting 220/240 volts, check by way of a voltage tester.
If the voltage is correct, then could be the motor capacitor or the motor itself, or start button?
Good Luck !

Kenmore 70 series dryer has power just wont start when push the button is it the start switch?

could be the start switch or it could be the safety switch in the bottem of the dryer that turn the dryer off incase the belt brakes.

Kenmore 70 Series

The most likely cause is a bad ignitor part number 279311. It has to glow to open the valve and ignite the gas. You should hear a loud click when you first start the dryer. That tells us there is voltage to the gas valve.

Kenmore gas dryer. 70 series

sound slike something fell down there and is jamming the blower from turning. if the filter is ontop of the unit, remove the 2 phillips located under where the filter pulls out from. and the n remove all the screws on back panel youll see ( down the left side of unit ) the filter houosing, its secured by 3 5/16 screws toward the bottom portion of the housing, simply unscrerw and wiggle out, then remove the debris, and reassemble.
if the lint screen is located inside behind door, eitehr remove the bottom accesss panel or pop the top(with a screw driver approx 3 inches in from ither side of main top relaes the clips) the lid tips back revealing 2 screws holding front panel to the unit, after removing you will see the filter housing, still mounted by probalby 3-4 screws, remove the housing and retrieve the debris that has fallen down there
