Cameras usually do not need software to upload to a USB compliant system.
Windows 98 is NOT USB compliant.
Windows 98SE is with an appropriate driver.
Your best bet would be to take the card to a processing station and have then put on CD then you can access your images.
SOURCE: how to use canon a460 as web cam
The camera has a video output, if I remember correctly. Most of the models come with the video output adaptor cable. With some models that have the option, the cable has to be purchased separately.
For the computer you need a video capture card with the capture software, and that your web conference program would be compatible with.
When using the camera as a live video camera, it is best to have the optional AC power supply. You will find that the batteries will not last very long. This camera was designed primarily to be used as a photo camera.
You cannot use the USB output of the camera for live video. The USB output can only transfer recorded video and photos from the memory card. It is not able to stream a live output as like a webcam.
By-the-way, Canon will not support using a camera of this type for a web cam. They actualy take it as an insult.
It is best to get a dedicated webcam. These are very low in cost, and are appropriate for the application. The video bandwidth will be very large when using a photo camera as a webcam. You better make sure you have unlimited data usage with a good high speed ISP. There may be delays during high traffic times, and if someone wants to communicate with you using a dialup modem, it will probably be impossible.

Hi,
The memory card will be having a slide option on the side of the card . Just move the slide it will unlock your card, and you can now download photos from the card .
Hope this helps .
