Check the 2200uF capacitors for bulging. You can get the schematic here to really toybleshoot: http://www.electronica-pt.com/index.php/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,34/func,download/id,15048/chk,6022df47696641c1c064cb27f2bd7d11/no_html,1/

Thank you Lake Dude - followed your instructions and problem solved. Yeah !! I know or had a feeling it was capacitor related. Appreciate your detail. Thanks again.

You're welcome. By the way, those that are having trouble with screeching or won't turn on, there is a 330uF CapXion capacitor next to the RF cage on the main circuit board you will notice that one is bulging and leaking. Replace it.

After tv is on for approx 20-30 mins it starts to make a loud high pitched squeal or whine. once turned off for approx 10-15 mins can turn it back on for another 20-30 mins before squeal will return....

Sounds like a problem I had with a Polaroid t.v. Take the cover off the back and look for capactors that are buldging on the top. The top should be slightly concave. If they are convex at all, you can buy new one at Radio Shack and replace them for under $5.00

Magnavox 19mf337b/27b flat panel tv doesn't boot up

I had the same problem but was too cheap to replace the scaler board on a television which was not worth the cost. That board has 3 1000uf 10V aluminum electrolytic capacitors which had swelled tops and indications that they may have vented. Since they were installed using through-hole technology, they were easy to change with 1000uf 16V capacitors. (caps can not be more than 16mm tall). The set has worked fine for months. Cost of repair was 72 cents

Magnavox 19" TV shuts itself off.....won't stay on

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

Pioneer stereo receiver has sound and power problems.

i would suggest checking the wires on the speaker switch board, thats usually the main cause of this problem..but i dont recommend buying pioneers newer stuff

Magnavox 19mf337b 5 months various problems power off, ghosting, alarm noise

I am currently working on this model set and have discovered the same type of problems. Fix: 4 capacitors in the power supply section on the main board were defective (bulging out). Common problem with counterfeit parts that originate in China. See http://www.badcaps.net for details.
