sounds like the changer was plugged into the antenna jack of the radio. this means that you can run it through any radio simply by sending a signal to a preset station on the radio and listening to it through tuner. the control unit ran the changer itself. you may be able to obtain replacement cables from pacparts.com
Check out www.crutchfield.com . you can cross-reference your vehicle model and they will show you what is available for your vehicle. They carry a large inventory and I have purchased from them several times.
Had the same problem!! Found the solution here under "Wont Play" question. Push that cd chngr magazine (holder) all the way into the unit and tap with a blunt object( Dont tap too hard,it's plastic!!) screw driver worked for me! Push the eject button and you'll hear the unit working! Pop it in and out and it seemed to unfreeze whatever was frozen!! It finally loaded a cd and started playing again. I checked all 6 and they were okay!!
if you open the cage on the unit, you can pop the tray back out of the mechanism by VERY GENTLY turning the load gear on the carriage, be sure to not slip any gears on the drive or the changer will be out of sync and will be garbage unless you have it serviced by an Alpine service center. you are best to turn the 1st. gear beyond the carriage motor, or you can apply power to the motor (which I don't advise) to let the motor eject the tray. if you do choose the power method, be 100% sure of the polarity first otherwise you will damage the carriage and drive gears. the motor has a brass gear and the rest are nylon gears, the brass gear will very easily shred a nylon gear. want to be extra careful? manually turn the load motor gear itself, it will take alot longer to do, but will be the safest. I've been inside these machines quite a bit, hope I was able to help.
Dont know Steve, i am no fundi with electronics but could it be that your system is set up for the steering remote, or perhaps not activating because of a wiring or button contact issue ?
Hope you get it sorted out.
Richard.
hi make sure that you cart is inserted all the way in, push the eject button why hitting the mag with the handle of ascrew driver. this may dislodge the jammed arm/lever. otherwise its down to your repair agent.
