your operating system is located on the hard drive if you still have the old one and it works put it back in make a back up copy on cd remove and reinstall new on and load operating system to new hard drive.

what about your old browser? Is it working there? If yes, you must uninstall and reinstall your new browser. There might be some error when you installed the new one.
check the cables it properly connected or not. after start up press F8 key to check the installed hard drive is detected or not. if it is not, check with BIOS settings
