Try this place: www.CamerasAndParts.com They are the best for the Canons and the only place we recommend for service on these Canon Powershots. It's $89 through them for parts and labor and return shipping included, plus they clean and service the camera. They do such great work on the Powershot's, it's all they deal with and it's who we recommend for this problem.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Lens error.....restart camera. Tried over and over again. Nothing works. HELP!

Went to the beach yesterday, by the end of the night my camera gave me this error: "lens error, restart camera". The lens would no longer come out.

I figured sand got stuck within the lens, so I did the following:

1. Turn camera up-side-down (with lens facing down)
2. Gently tap the sides of the camera (to loosen particles in lens)
3. Turn camera on
4. The lens will eventually come out
5. Gently tap the sides of the lens
6. Turn camera off (continue tapping side of lens as it retracts)

I turned the camera on and off a couple of times to ensure I removed all sand particles from the camera.

Now the camera works...thank god....

thanks.

My Canon PowerShot SX10 IS is 2 years old. Now, when I use the zoom, it beeps continuously and turns off, but the power button glows as the camera is on. Then I need to switch off the power button and...

hi, that problem mostly from dust on lens. Cleanup the lens using soft material such cloth, tisue etc, on telescopic lens (silinder which deliver lens forward un reverse).
good luck.

Camera displays "Lens erros, restart camera"

I had this happen to my camera. The lens has malfunctioned. You will have to buy a new camera, or they might possibly allow you to send the camera in for a fix, but there is nothing you should or can try.

Good Luck

Just got canon power shot sx10, I am disneyland and I have a lens

get new strong batteries..... turn the camera back on and smack it HARD with the palm of your hand. It's the ONLY thing that has worked for me. When you get home take it to the shop. For some reason smacking it dislodges it from the locked open position.
It just worked for me... hope this helps!!!

Lens error, restart camera message

This is probably THE single most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html
