Hi,
There could be a variety of reasons why this happens, but the likeliest
reason is the secondary interlock or monitor switch is broken. These are micro switches that tell the microwave that the door is closed. If this switch is broken, then the microwave thinks the door is still open and the carousel table won't turn, and the oven will not heat up.
I replaced an interlock switch last Saturday. The switch was $7.00 and took me an hour.
Ask your local repair person to test the interlock and monitor switches first, then go from there.
Good luck,
Hank

what's sparking... is it by the Magnatron window... or the carousel?...
If there is a carousel... take it out...
if its by the magnatron window,,, then...houston... we have a problem...
might be contamination... and that may require opening up the unit... sorry...
hopefully it's only something floating around in there that's causing the arc...
i just checked my R-3A36 manual to find out the wattage. it's 800 watts. i make pralines in my microwave. i am always asked for the recipe. so i needed to be able to tell people the wattage of my oven so they can adjust the recipe to their oven.
