Scanner error message. 3rd and last canon for us!!!!

Any ideas??? first it kept saying we were out of ink which wasnt true... now beeping and the error message "SCANNER ERROR" price per print on these is very high when u factorhow little they are used and how much they are to buy and fill with ink, then they just dont work. 3 faulty canons-weve had enough!

thanks steveb, its not actually a scanner issue...nothing works at all-every button pressed gives about5 short quick beeps...like its frozen, but the message says 'scanner error' copy light and error light (and one other) flashing all the time too. never canon again!!

are the scanner drivers in the multi or the computer?

scanner is not comunicating with computer ? works with other laptop ?

tried reinstalling drivers etc. but keeps saying error 2,115,0 check scanner is plugged in etc....any ideas?

Unfortunately (and in common with a lot of other 'all-in-ones') the Scanner will refuse to work unless the printer is fully operational (or at least has Ink).

See if it will perform a photo-copy .. if so, then it's the driver software .. about all I can suggest is re-install the scanner drivers.

Cannon Printer mx320 error 5200 wont' restart

Error 5200 unfortunately is a Print head overheat error. Whatever you try to do to fix it will not work unless you replace the print and the main logic board. These two parts HAVE to be replaced as a pair to get the machine to work. However the costs are often more than the machine is worth. To be honest i would scrap it and by another. Its quite an uncommon fault but have seen it before (I am a Canon engineer)

Yes , this makes all the difference . There are no more drivers available for this unit after OS 9

Cannon MP220 displays colour ink vol unknown

For the Canon Pixma MP220, I kept getting a message saying "Col Ink Vol Unknown" after refilling and replacing a cartridge. After reading some of the other responses it appears as though Canon cartridges contain internal chips that prevent you from using them after they have been refilled. However, I tried a few things and this is what worked for me.

1. Insert your refilled Canon cartridge like normal, close the lid.
2. The Error message "Col Ink Vol Unknown" should still appear.
3. Use the "Menu" button to scroll to "Maintenance" (press "Menu" 8 times to find it), then press "OK" to conduct a "Nozzle Check" and a coloured test will print out.
4. The Error message will still appear but you will be able to print using colour AND with black and white. For some silly reason the Canon Pixma MP220 won't print using black and white if there is no coloured ink...

Canon printer problem

Scanner not work because printer need recognized both cartridges.In your case color cartridge is defective.Replace it and the message will disappear.

Canon MP210 Third Party Ink Canon Does Not Work!

When the error message comes up, try pressing the "stop/reset" button and holding it down for at least 5 seconds. This works when I get an error message with compatible cartridges (only my error message says the ink is empty - and I know it isn't)

Error ##343 and it didn't print anything Orange light below screen has been flashing, screen message "Waste Ink Nearly Full". No idea where waste ink container is kept? Have changed cartridges. Now saying...

Manual Reset procedure Waste Ink Tank for Canon MP390:

Start with printer on, press additional functions, Scan, Copy, Scan. Now you should be in service mode.
Select Test mode (must be the last available selection).
Select #8 Printer Test, it will start cleaning then it will come up with some other option: push the + or - button until it says 8-3 then hit the select button
The menu will now say EEPROM Clear
Select Ink count which is option (0) and press set
Press Stop/Reset Followed by the power button and then wait for it to restart.

Ink cartridge problem

Complete the following instructions:

Power off your All-in-One.
Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.
Turn the All-in-One on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
Remove the color print cartridge.
Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.
Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges.
