Try these methods for resetting the scan on your dvd."To reset the VIDEO OUTPUT, turn Off the player, turn back On, open
the disc tray and press and hold the Stop button on the player for 10 seconds to
reset the scan mode." The Reset procedure
doesn't seem to work on all versions but you
can sometimes get a usable B&W picture allowing you to get to the menu and
change the settings by connecting the composite video input of
your display to the Red Pr/Cr or Green Y component output jacks on the rear of
the cabinet. You
can also go into the Menu and set it blind with the following key presses
on the Remote: 1.
With the unit Stopped, press Setup. 2.
Press Enter. 3.
Press the Down Arrow 3 times. 4.
Press the Right Arrow Once. 5.
Press Enter. Hope this helps you with your problem
You have to blindly instruct the NTSC/PAL menu item, which toggles between NTSC and PAL;
This is how it is done:
1) turn your dvd player off.
2) Turn it back on and make sure there is no DVD in the player tray.
This will ensure the menus are active
3) Using the remote, press the dowm menu selector key exactly three times
4) press the center menu select key once.
This will activate the display adjustement menu
5) press the down menu key exactly once.
This will activate the NTSC/PAL menu
6) press the center menu key
DONE.
The player should now have switched back to NTCS if it was in PAL.
IF it was in NTSC it should have switched back to PAL.
Note: If you still have the manual you can follow the menu tree blindly using the instructions in the manual. The above sequence is for activating the NTSC/PAL menu.
This player can also switch to progressive scan, which creates a similar problem. At least the progressive scan menu has enough warnings before it will actvate.
to turn it off select connection method 3 above and progressive scanning mode, to set the mode, set progressive to off in the display menu so that the p scan indicator light on the front panel goes out. do all of this in interface mode. you can also do this by pressing and holding PLAY > on the front of the unit for more than 5 seconds, still watch for the p scan indicator to go off. this works best when the unit is connected directly to the television.
Once the setting for Progressive Scan output is entered,
an image will only be visible on a Progressive Scan compatible
TV or monitor. If you set Progressive Scan to On in
error, you must reset the unit. Pointing the remote at the
player, press the STOP (x) button to stop any disc that is
playing. Next, press the STOP (x) button again and hold it
for five seconds before releasing it. The video output will
be restored to the standard setting, and a picture will once
again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor.
