Whenever i try to download yahoo messenger it puts me a warning saying dat this file u r attempting to download may harm ur computer........y is it giving me dat warning?shudnt i download yahoomessenger?

I guess you are trying to download it from Google Chrome, if so, it's not actually going to harm your computer, but as a precautionary measure, it only warns you, suppose if in case something is trying to download without your knowledge, this will prevent it from downloading automatically. Simply click "Yes" and download it. If you are not very sure, please follow this LINK and follow the instructions on how to download and install Yahoo! Messenger. i tried this also many times....and theres a program call "wine" (windows emulator) for linux....you can use but at the moment its not that good with the current version of yahoo messenger....the best thing to do is install a virtual windows machine on your your ubuntu pc....VirtualBox is a good one and its free....install it and then get install windows machine and install yahoo messenger...i like this it this way better cause im able to send receive pics/files......another thing u can do is use pidgin for ubuntu...when you log in with user name and password u have ur contacts and alll dat stuff BUT sometimes they do updates on it and u cant reve files or pics....but thats always doesnt alwasy happen but suxz when it does....also sometimes the person who ur chattin with sometimes wont be able to see ur pic u have set in ur avatar...this is a big reason i go with the virtual machine....plus u can install windows programs on it and they will work perfect....BUT lol also remember that if u use a virtual machine it will slow down ur ubunut machine cuz its like running two computers on one computer.....with the new computers coming out nowadays it wont matter cuz they got good cpus and a lot ram

Looks like your missing a .dll file. The error should tell you which .dll file your missing. You can do a Google search to find the .dll and where to put it.

To make sure Yahoo messenger is installed properly, download the installation files and save them to your desktop.

hi, it may be due to low bandwidth problems yahoo just gives u a small installation file, and tries to install the rest of the messenger program by downloading them when required, after all the files are downloaded, ur installation is completed. if ur net gets disconnected, or yahoo server lags(very rare case, but happens), then u lose all that u have downloaded..simple way is always try to download from filehippo.com, when it comes to yahoo messenger, as that site provides a full fledged messenger, without the need for downloading before installing..

Try use Yahoo Messenger 9, the latest version. Before download yahoo messenger, make sure firewall allows your connection to download it. It shows that your PC protected from any harmful software because of your firewall. One more thing download your yahoo messenger only for trustful sources websites, it much better. i think you should check your firewall settings. Check also your Windows Firewall. I think there are some problems in your firewall settings. It may be blocked your yahoo messenger from downloading it into your PC. If you use Personal Firewall, make sure it allows your connection to receiving incoming connections and allows you to install yahoo messenger,check it out, may be it blocked your yahoo messenger. [Solution#1]unless you have a trojan, someone with access to your computer that is making that up. what I do suggest is for you to delete all yahoo mail, chat, ect ect ake sure nothing about yahoo is in you remove/add box then download yahoo newwwest update. try it it should work other wise is also possible someone else who craked you nick o stole you id or password is entering at the same time as you do. change you password clean you pc run antivirus ect ect

1) ur internet connection is not stable or ur gateway machine is disconnectd

2) u may have virus or spyware on ur system try removing or ur OS is corrupted

3) yahoo messeger server maybe xperiencing conjestion and is dropping some its connections from clients

[Solution# 3] 1) Exit messenger
2) Go to the program files folder and look for Yahoo! \ Messenger ..once you are there right click and cut the " cache folder " to your desktop ... 
3) Then look around for the profiles folder and right click and cut the broken IDs folder from indside it and right click and paste it to your desktop .. 
4) start messenger and try' ...

I tried to solve this. I went through alot of forums. I uninstalled Yahoo messenger and tried installing new one. I downloaded and pressed "Run as an administrator" when i got this response

"Yahoo messenger is unable to download files needed for installation Please check firewall settings and retry installation."

I did the following:
Turned of Windows Firewall( Search )
Uninstalled Yahoo messenger
Downloaded New One
Used CCLEANER to clean the computer. Download CCLEANER from www.filehippo.com

Then I checked INTERNET EXPLORER:

Tools->Internet Options->Connections->LAN Settings -> Click on Automatically Detect Settings (Unclick everything else except this option) ->Apply -Ok

Check if www.yahoo.com opens in Internet Explorer.

Now Install Yahoo Messenger.
It should work.
