Starts up with a blank screen and three loud beeps. Wont turn on. Sounds like the fan is on.

I don't have access to your board details. However, beeps frequently represent memory problems. Try
removing the memory on your system and then putting it back.

You can access your memory on the bottom of your computer. It is likely the smallest rectangular hatch. After powering donwn the computer, remove one or two screws.

Remove the memory sticks by spreading the clips on each side of the memory. After removing them, put them back. This will clean the terminals and ensure a good connection. Before putting the back on, try to boot the computer. If you hear no beeps, all is good. Turn off the computer and put the hatch back on.

If you hear beeps, switch the memory modules. Try again. If you still hear beeps, try one module at a time in the primary memory slot. If one of these works, you should be able to buy a new memory module. Go to a sight like Crucial's and have it tell you what you can add. Perhaps this is a good excuse to upgrade.

You should do this at the kitchen table to avoid any static discharge.

HP dv6000 Laptop screen only starts up 1/4th of the time

The first issue you had with one long beeps and two short beeps is a memory module error. see the following HP website:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01732674&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1842155 I would replace the memory chips and try again. If you have more than one chip try booting with one at a time to discover that one of them may be bad.

Laptop screen only starts up 1/4th of the time

Sounds like you have a lot of spyware and malware. Anti-spyware software (such as SpyBot) and antimalware software 9such as Malwarebytes) may not ultimately help, but it's worth a try. I really think that you will need to completely reinstall Windows. Use the CD that came with your system, as it has all your drivers. Let us know if you need help to reinstall. Good luck.

Screen won't appear upon start up and I get 3 beeps but no screen

3 beeps POST code (power on self test) means RAM problem.
Reseat the RAM module/s and boot up your computer.
If you have two RAM modules, remove them both and insert one at a time to test them, to determine which module is faulty.
If it still doesn't work then replace the RAM module/s

HP desktop wont start up

Hi, depends on the beep sequence, it could either ba a bad memory or a bad video card. By being bad does not necessarily mean defective but could possibly be just loose. Try to open the casing/cover and reseat/push back into place the video card (if it is not built-in) and/or the memory. It is possible that they were jarred loose while in transit. Pls make sure the unit is unplugged before doing this. BTW, being new, you might void your warranty if you open the casing, pls check your warranty card. Hope this works out for you. Please let me know how things turn up. Regards
