This is an ether or situation. Most systems now are set up with three way valves and if you turn the jets on you will shut the pool returns down. If you turn the pool back on you will shut the spa jets off.

Remove the back of the motor ... you will find there are flats on the shaft. Put your 7/16 or 1/2 open end wrench there and with your other hand, spin off the broken impeller.

LOOK AT THE HAIR BASKET ON YOUR PUMP IF IT HAS CRACKS IN IT ( LOOK CLOSE) YOU HAVE A PLUGGED IMPELLER , YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE THE PUMP APART TO CLEAN THE DEBRIS OUT OF. THE IMPELLER ALSO YOU CAN TRY RUNNING THE PUMP WITHOUT THE FILTER INSTALLED , EASY TO DO IF ITS A CARTRIDGE TYPE .. GOOD LUCK N VOTE ,,,J

Sorry, but no. Reversible AC motors are very different. Without that design difference (which adds cost) you can't reverse it. Your label is telling you that you don't have the special kind of motor.

I assume the pump is not running at night. If the pump is higher than the pool, and the inlet and outlet to the pool are both under water, then you have a small leak. This could be allowing the water to leak out of the line. Or, if the leak is higher than the pool surface it is allowing air to leak into the line, which allows the prime to run down into the pool. sounds like the motor is too small for the job.? has the motor been changed? if not -have the run capacitor checked by your local pool pump motor repair guy also the SF and HP must match the impeller size this number can be found on the front of the impeller and SF,HP can be found on the motor ID PLATE. gather all this info when you buy a motor or impeller .. very important ! . if you find you are stuck with you new motor the FIX is to get the impeller that is right for your motor

you could have a leak in the vac hose or a shaft seal on the pump, if there is a wet spot under your pump there is a good chance the shaft seal is BAD.... some pumps are so strong you can starve the PUMP for water, the trick is to set your valve more towards the main drain./ hope this helps.. i'm your local pool pump motor repair guy
