Burning smell and smoke from inside an artista 180Screen switch on and off. After smell we switch off quickly. Is it motor pcb or power supply. Machine is few years old we are first owner but it did not work more than two weeks in all the time. It was covered in box with plastic bag over but open at bottom. Machine look like new. Bernina dealer want more for pcb than working 2nd hand machine (from Bernina's web page with 3 month quarantee) Please point me in direction as I don't trust the repair people in my country because of the good mechanical condition of my machine.
I'd suggest to buy a second hand.

If you hold down the clear (clr) & then turn machine on keeping clr in, you'll find in low right hand corner a box with hours in it.

4 amp??? More likely 1.6 slow blow. The problem solution is changing the power supply, called a Classic L-print. Typical on the 130/180 Bernina.

Just to the left of the bobbin case you will see a small lever. Remove the bobbin case and push the lever and that will release the latch which holds the race cover and shuttle (hook).
Clean well with a toothbrush and place one small drop of oil on the edge of the hook where it makes contact with the raceway. Place the hook back and snap the race cover back on.
