I purchased a Thomson digital video camera model VMD5 some years ago and with the package I got an driver disk and some leads to transfer video on to my computer. However the computer was not powerful enough (insufficient memory) to run the application. Now I have updated myself with a new computer and have in the meantime mislaid the supplied accessories. Is it possible for me to purchase these accessories either through your company. kind regards adrian C Herdman

Fixya does not sell or supply software, manuals or any other items. Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer or importer.

SOURCE: driver update problem for digital camera

In order to get rid of the error, you have uninstall the driver, update your operating system with updates from Microsoft (see below for instructions) and follow these suggestions:

  1. Best method, copy the photos to the computer by connecting a card reader to the computer and plug the SD card into the card reader and transfer using your favorite software (like Picasa) or through My Computer.
  2. Drivers are not required for the A400 and Windows XP. So you can plug in the camera, without drivers and it should work. This appears to be the one that's not working, You need to un-install the drivers and either reinstall, try updated drivers from the links below, or don't use the drivers.
This information is in the manual on page 96. See this link for the manual.

See this link for details about the WIA driver.

About the error "driver update failed" rea

I personally have stopped altogether trying to get the drivers and software installed because they can cause more problems. I just transfer using a card reader.

If you want to use the software that comes with the A400, it's best to install ZoomBrowser, then you will need to follow to this link to get the update to this software.

Once this is done, reboot your machine to make sure the system is then up-to-date.

Make sure you have also updated your machine with Windows Updates. This is done by opening Internet Explorer and clicking on Tools | Windows Updates. Follow the links at their site to update your machine.

Ignore the mewling about joining, scroll down to the bottom of the page and choose "Basic" download. 207 MB, be patient.

Burn .iso, unplug camera, mount CD, choose "Install Driver", reboot when done, plug in camera.

Don;t lose this, there are no copies on the web

SOURCE: OLYMPUS Master.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close

1. identify wich copy of mfc80u.dll in the WinSxS your Oly Master is using. I did this renaming one by one and running the Master 2 to see if it continue to run or not.
2. Once identified the folde (mine was C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.MFC_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.922_x-ww_3cf1180b), copy the mfc80u.dll from the OLYMPUS Master 2 folder to the corresponding WinSxS folder
3. The Master 2 should run fine now

SOURCE: have a new sony dsc-w120

OK,
Camera has small inbuilt memory that can store few pictures. You can copy these photos in memory stick by inserting memory stick in camera, go to Menu >> Copy >> Yes.
Memory stick stores many photos depends on its size and let memory stick in camera, hook it with computer and transfer photos from memory card.
Thanks.

SOURCE: I have a Fuji FinePix A340 digital camera (c. 6

Bought a 1GB card (XD) for mine at a local drugstore and it works just fine after updating the firmware. Had trouble with the online stuff, so took it to Fuji in Missauga, Ontario (almost next door for me) for updating. Cost was $15.

I am using this camera from last 3 years. It was working fine. Suddenly, a problem occurred. Now whenever I select the Auto mode, it is set to video option instead of still image. I have formatted...

I'm have the exact same problem. Purchased the camera 3.5 years ago. Recently needed to shoot a video, when finished I set the camera back to Auto and it stayed in video. Portrait mode shows manual, all other modes work as assigned. I've noticed at least TWO other posters having the same problem within the last couple of months. It's as though this camera (mfg. 2007) has a Trojan program from the factory to make us buy newer models.

Other than resetting, is there a way to flush and reload the firmware?

Hello,

Have you tried checking the battery? As you mentioned before, the camera was bought 3 years ago. And doesn't specify if you left the batteries inside the camera. Please try replacing the battery, otherwise send the camera to the nearest Olympus for technical check up.

Thank you

Transferred video skips

Kim Fergie,

Did you use a standard USB connection to transfer the video? In order for the video to be transferred correctly without skipping, it is highly recommended that you use a FireWire cable and a FireWire port. Nearly all newer laptop models come with such a port, and the cable can be found at your nearest electronics store or department.
