Two possible causes.1) Vol Settings changed in windows2) Bad hardware
1) Check your system's sound settings:

For Xp

  • Goto Control Panel
  • Double Click Sound and Audio devices / Sound, Speech, and Audio Devices
  • In device Volume Click Advance
  • Master Volume Control Window will open
  • Increase all the volumes to max, also make sure that Mute us UNCHECKED.

OR
  • From the bottom right corner of your screen in system tray, double click a small speaker icon and open Master Volume Control.

For Vista and Windows 7
  • From system tray (its at bottom right corner of your screen) double click on small speaker icon, it will open Volume mixer
  • Increase the volume to max.

2) If this does not work, then test your speakers by connecting it to some other system and vice versa.
If you get desired sound volume when you connect some other speakers to your system, then you have to change your speakers. And if your speakers are working fine on other system then you may have to purchase a new sound card.

The sound output is very low even using earphones can the audio output be upgraded to give a normal listening level.

Sound level should be plenty loud even with earphones. If you are listening to music on spotify, youtube etc. be aware that those programmes have their own volume controls so even if they are turned up full, the level will be low if your computer master level is low. You need to access the computer sound mixer and make sure all volumes/output levels are turned up.

Low volume on tv remotes up full tv freeview and booster still no good

Hello
If volume of the TV doesn't rise up as its volume is increased with remote control handset, and the volume indication bar runs full, the fault is with the TV itself. Either its speaker may be damaged or its audio output section has some trouble with it. Check its speaker first for damage. Connect an other good speaker in place, and you can check it by yourself. If the speaker is good, the audio output ciruit should be traced for fault.
Here you haven't given any details about your TV. Its Model number Brand Name etc: Eventhough you have given all these details to me, you must have a sound knoledge in electronics, and must have all tools with you to go forward with its inside circuit. OK.

The sound/volume is not working properly on our Bose 321 system...i.e., whereas, a "normal" volume at (let's say) 35-40 is way loud, but now have to turn volume up to 100 (maximum) to be able to...

Make sure the device it is connected to has its audio properties setup correctly. If this is a cable or satellite box, most of them have a volume output level. Changing this will change overall volume.

Hear sound but cant get any real volume even at full blast

I was playing around with my Sherwood RD 6513 and adjust the the output level to its maximum, amongst other settings. This limited my output on the amp to a maximum volume of 65 not 90+.. Anyway i pluged in the microphone and done another 'auto setup' of the volume levels and distances, and this allowed the volume to exceed 65 again!

Also if you have an external source such as a DVD player - i would assume you have already checked its output volume setting?

somekind of hardware side failure or bad drivers.
I hear sounds from my audio output if i connect my headphones there directly but when I connect it to my speaker system they filter the distortion.
