CHANGING THE SCREEN ASPECT RATIO: ( From Manual )
The TV can display images in four different modes: Wide, Zoom, Panoramic, and Normal. Each mode displays the picture differently. To change the screen aspect ratio:
1. Press the MENU button on the remote.
2. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight the Wide icon. Press OK.
3. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight your desired screen mode and press OK:
• Normal preserves the content's original aspect ratio. Since the 4:3 aspect ratio is not large enough to fill the TV's screen, black bars are added to the left and right of the display image.
• Wide stretches a 4:3 aspect ratio picture to the edges of the screen. Since the picture is being stretched, the display image may appear distorted. If the program is already formatted for widescreen viewing (1.85:1 or 2.35:1), then black bars will appear on the top and bottom of the display image.
• Zoom expands images with black bars to fit the screen.
• Panoramic expands the display image to fill the screen.
images may appear wider than intended.
If you are watching widescreen (1.85:1 or 2.35:1) content, black bars will still appear on the top and bottom of the display image. This option is only available when the TV is displaying a 480i/480p source.
I found the user manual online, and the pictures in it are really helpful and make this make a lot more sense, but: 1. Press [SCREEN MODE], to switch the TV aspect ratio. 2. Press [SCREEN MODE] repeatedly until the normal screen displays. NOTE: • Some programs may not offer all display mode options. 4:3 Programming [Sidebar] Sidebar displays a 4:3 picture at its standard 4:3 size. Sidebars will be displayed on the right and left edges of the screen. [Full] Full displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size, with horizontal elongation necessary to fill the screen. [Cinema] Cinema displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size, with less horizontal elongation necessary to fill the screen because a little bit of the top and bottom edge of the screen will be cut off. [Wide] Wide displays the center of the picture as original size and the outer sides of the picture will be elongated. The size of the picture will depend on the original signal. 16:9 Programming [Full] A picture is displayed at 16:9 size as it is. [Zoom] Zoom displays a 16:9 picture without changing its horizontal and vertical ratio, at its maximum size. [Cinema] Cinema displays a 16:9 picture with vertical elongation. [Expand] Expand displays a 16:9 picture with horizontal elongation
Hello
You can set the picture size by remote control itself.
You can vide 480i format programmes in three picture sizes. 4:3, 16:9, and ZOOM
You can change the picture size by pressing the PICTURE SIZE button on the remote control.
4:3 Picutre size
To fill the screen, the top and bottom edges are extedted more widely, although the center of the picture remains near the former ratio.
If receiving a 4:3 programme, the image size is displayed in its originally formatted proportion.
16:9 picure size
This image displays the size of standard 16:9 with black bars at the top and bottom.
If receiving a 4:3 programme, the image is displayed with black bars at the top and bottom and stretched wider.
NOTE: If a fixed bar remains on the screen for a long period of time, the image can become parmanantly engrained in the screen and cause subtle but permanent ghost images. Never leave your TV for long periods of time while it is displaying these images.
Zoom picture size [for 16:9 formats]
The entire picture is uniformly enlarged --it is stretched the same amount both wider and taller (retains its original proportion). The right and left edges of the picture may be hidden.
OK.
has to be adjusted by a tech.some tvs do stretch at the edges this should also happen when there is writing coming across at the bottom of the screen.there is a few things i look at before buying tvs, past experence.
Well, the easiest way is to use the botom button on the right side (edge) of your phone.
The other way is to press the Main Menu button on the main screen. This is the middle icon at the bottom of the screen that has 4 dots then go to Media Center. Select Pictures & Video then Take Picture.
Point and press the camera button (bottom right edge)
To switch between Video and Pictures, press and hold down the camera button until either the camera icon or the video (movie camera) icon appears.
Once you take the picture, you have to select the second icon down on the right to save it to the phone.
Hi
If your picture wasn't pinkish or dark at the top or bottom when it was
working, then it may be the inverter has gone bad. Inverters are like light
bulbs and have life expectancies on the capacitors.
If your picture was pinkish or dark at the top or bottom when it was working
then you may have 1 or more of the bulbs failing. To get to the inverter: Remove the stand. Take the screws out of the bottom
rear edge (these hold the front trim) The the trim then unsnaps. {Be
aware of the wire to the power button board on the bottom corner} Start at the bottom and release
the trim by lifting away from the glass of the screen from the center outwards
to the corners, then work your way up each side bottom to top (a pocket knife
or thin putty knife will help release the catches) These sides can be really
tough to pop off especially the last top clip on each side. Then unsnap the top edge (rocking
it while lifting helps) Disconnect the power button plug
or unsrew the screws. Once trim is off, remove the 4
corner screws that hold the screen in. Then the screen will lift up. unplug the bulbs and wire to the
screen (screen plug that goes into the metal case pulls out) then the inverter is under the
center area under the metal cover Shout if you need more info. If you email me a good picture of
the inverter , I may be able to get a better idea if it is the inverter from a
visual. Fran [email protected]
i was just working on a set with the same problem .. i found a east west correction curicit with a falty transistor. something in that cuircit has failed.
This is a defect in the vertical scan amplifier. It is not an adjustment. Most of the time there are a number of capacitors in the vertical deflection amplifier that can cause this type of fault. Sometimes the output drive IC can cause this fault, but more rarely.
An experienced service tech can locate the defective parts and replace them. The average time involved is about 1 to 1.5 hours.
It sounds as you desribe, the vertical output IC and or the b+ feed capacitor off the Hi voltage transformer feeding the vert. IC its required voltage. Not a really hard job to replace, but not for a handi person to do. This should be left to the professional, as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set and with the HI voltage and the safety issues its best to call somesone to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
