F21 flashes on the time screen -- am unable to power washer off

I have the manual for this machine. Under "Code 21" it says the following:
"F21" (Drain Problem) Select STOP twice to cancel the cycle. Unplug washer or disconnect power. Check the following: Is the drain hose kinked? Is the drain hose frozen? Is the drain hose clogged? Is the drain hose more than 96" (2.4 m) above the floor? Plug in washer or reconnect power. Re-select cycle and press START. If the problem remains, call for service.
For "SUDS" code, the following:
"SUD" (Suds Routine) When excessive suds are detected, a suds routine automatically starts. This routine removes extra suds and assures proper rinsing of your garments. "SUD" is displayed during rinsing to inform you that Suds Routine was activated. Use only HE (High Efficiency) detergents.
Here is some more information that may help you as well:
"F" Codes other than F20, F21 and F22 Select STOP twice to cancel the cycle. Select DRAIN & SPIN if there is excessive water in the washer. Re-select cycle and press START. If the problem remains, call for service.

F21 error means that the drain time has exceeded 8 minutes; this will turn off the water valves. Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear the display. If errors still remains then please check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. Disassemble the washer by removing the back from the washer and check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is draining. Also inspect the pump filter for foreign objects. Before disassembling remember to turn off the power and disconnect the washer. If it still doesn't help then there is an issue with the pump and you'll need to replace it. Hope this helps... Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your post I understand you have a F21 problem with a Kenmore washer, the F21 error means an excessive drain time was detected as you may or may not already know...also the reason the door won't unlock.

If you follow the link to my solution to this error designed specifically for "do-it-yourselfers" you should be fixed up in no time...including unlocking the door. (It's much quicker for me than pasting or retyping the complete solution several hundred times, that's how common this is)

Based on your post I understand you have a F21 problem with a Whirlpool Duet washer, that indicates the F21 error means an excessive drain time.
As for the door locked issue, it is a by-product of the F21 error. Make sure you get the water out before attempting to open the door manually or it could be messy.

To Manually unlock the door lock system:

1. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.

2. Remove the lower toe panel.

3. Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door latch assembly.

4. Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear-drop shaped tab.

5. Gently pull the tab down about ¼" or until a click is heard.
6. The door may now be opened.

F21 error is displayed when the washer is unable to drain, press PAUSE/CANCEL button twice to clear the display. After this please check the drain hose and drain pump filter for any blockages and make sure it is not clogged with foreign particles. You can also check the drain pump to verify that its working. When F21 error code appears press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear the display.
Also check for the following issues

1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
4. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7.
7. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
8. Replace the pump.
