This type of engine does not have timing marks to set ignition timing, this is electronically set by the DME ( Digital Motor Electronics) which can only be set by BMW specialist and there OEM test equipment.

yes...make sure positive goes to positive and negative can go to any ground, any bare metal on the car if there is no spot for it. just dont cross them and you will be fine.. Your a good neighbor

Yes it is, but just having the key near the ignition is enough to start the car. If you can turn the ignition with the broken key, hold the broken part in your hand and see if it will start. Hopefully the chip isn't damaged. I know that when GM keys are replaced, they glue the old key under the dash to make it work. Hope this helps.

sure is alloy ,take it off and take it to engineers shop and have it tapped out to a slightly bigger size .or they may helicoil it for you

i believe to start with you are looking at 15 hours of labor to change the timing chain. lots of stuff has to come off the front.
