screen probably needs replacing. There are no major known symptoms for cloudiness in macbook screens.

When you say "load up screen", I assume you mean the Apple boot screen (it has the apple on a gray background).

You might try resetting the PRAM on the macbook.
You can do this by pressing and holding the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.

So, turn the macbook completely off. Turn it on and immediately press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys until the computer reboots and chimes. Once it chimes, release the keys. Your system should boot normally.

You have a bad driver. Reinstall your screen driver or clear your P ram by holding the letters P and R and the control button when you boot your laptop. Hold them until it chimes and reboots.

Put the installation cd in your drive, and boot while holding down the C key
then open up "Disk Utility", and choose repair permissions

If this is the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina, it is a known problem that Apple has been less than cooperative in fixing:

This has also happened to my Macbook Pro - nothing would work, so i basically pressed the power button until it closed down and waited a few minutes and turned it back on. The problem ( touch wood) did not come back again yet. Good luck!

The same thing happend to me, i just re installed the OS cause i was in a hurrry, but apples tech support is amazingly fast and they speak english wich is a major plus.

You probably need an OS-Reinstall. Take it to the apple store and see if they'll do it for you. If they don't there are third party Macbook Repair services that can fix it for you. There are also free Macbook Repair guide that show you how to restore it yourself. You should still have your install CDs to do the restore.

Press and hold the f2 key try it also with the fn key depressed while tapping f2.
