I have just brought Nokia 5230 2 days back. I found that on the right hand corner of the handset near the battery a envelope blinking, on clicking which i get a message Sim memory full. I have transferred all the contact data from sim to the handset and deleted the sim contacts, still the envelope is blinking, Tried all the option. Kindly help.

You can restore your phone even without asking a lock code.just follow this procedure.

1. turn off the phone
2. remove battery,sim,memory card.
3. put the battery back and be sure it is fully charge

4.LONG press call key(green button),end key (red button) and the camera button (located at the right side key) simultaneously the press POWER ON. your can release the power button but continue pressing the three key until the phone restart and display.

Now check the your phone,it will be in Default settings....

2)You can flash(format) your handset to reset code 12345

(formatting delete all data including messages,contacts,etc... So i suggest you to back up all the files before formatting You can back up file using Nokia PC suit)
To back up your files
*Install the Nokia PC suit
*open Nokia PC suit >Select Back up

To restore Backed up data
*Open PC suit>Tools tab>Restore>Select Restore>select a restore point(restore point is file in which all data's are saved)>Ok and wait for 5-10 mins.


To flash you need

*USB cable compatible with your handset
*A Computer
*Nokia PC suite of your handset
*Internet connection(Min speed 1Mbps)
*Nokia software updater(you can download by using Nokia PC suit)

To flash
*Install the PC suite
*Connect to USB
*Open the PC suit
*Select UPDATE PHONE SOFTWARE(dowload the Nokia Software updater by selecting this option)
*Install the "NOKIA Software Updater"*Select Update**....(It takes 10-30 Mins)

Hi by what you have said ,to me it sounds like the hand set is barred,if the phone was bought from new i would take it back if it is a second user phone they may have reported it has lost, but try another sim in the phone it may not like that sim.

video calling is not only based on the phone but also your network provider must have such services available. A few factors include turning on 3G that is enable all modes in the network settings in the phone settings, location is also relevant since video calling only occurs in a 3G network availability environment. When writting a message, click on the text field and an option to write the message should appear, either handwritting or keyboard. If it is handwritting click on the little keyboard on the right low corner of the screen and select keyboard. If you've just put your SIM card in your Nokia 5800, you may have noticed a flashing envelope icon at the top of the screen.
This icon indicates that the SIM card's own text message storage is full. This doesn't actually cause problems on the 5800 because it stores its messages in the phone's own memory, but the envelope can look a bit annoying.
To get rid of the flashing envelope:

1. On the standby screen press the white menu button.

2. Select "Messaging"

3. Select "Options"

4. Select "SIM Messages"

5. Delete some or all of the messages from the SIM messages folder using the Options menu.

This should make the flashing envelope go away. You only have to do this once because when the SIM card is emptied it won't fill any more, as the 5800 does not store messages on SIM cards.

I also had this problem and then I found a solution from another site.
Just open the handset and remove the battery for about 1 minute.
Reinstall the battery and go through the register procedure again - it will register almost immediately. just keep the handset near the base.

Envelopes can give all sorts of problems Back corner is flicking up. Try rolling the envelopes in the opposite direction to the "bowing" as they have been through machine once.

go to messaging, click options then go to sim messages,mark all messages then copy to your phone. that's what i did and got rid of the annoying flashing envelope in the top right hand corner of the screen. hope this will work for you.
