Install first the printer on one computer unit as its local printer.
If installation is successful then try doing this:
1. on control panel, double click the printer.
2. Right click on the model of your printer, and click sharing.
3. On the SHARING Tab, click the "If you understand the risk but willing to share printer click here" button
4. check all the box, then press apply.
Now on the other printer:
1. Double click printer on the control panel
2. click the add printer button, click next
3. check the box for browse, then next
4.check the second circle, then next
5. search the printer with directory of its computer
6. click next and try to print.

Most router (DHCP servicer) issue an IP to any device on the network, is your PC on the the same subset of the network? Can you ping the printer? Check your printer and device property, make sure you have the same IP address and you're on the same subset.

How to install hp 2420 on network
First Configure IP Address on Printer and make sure all Other PCs are in same IP range.

Now goto Computer on which you want to install Printer. Insert CD and start Installation. It will Ask for Installation Mode You Must Select " Network" means your printer is connected to network. then HP installation will find printer in network automatically. and install.

Option 2 :
In control panel , printer and faxes
clik add printer, select network printer, select create TCP IP Port ; give IP address of printer, click next and slect printe driver. it will install printer.

How czn i install my printer so that can network
You first need to check if the printer is compatible with Vista. Then, if it is,Install the printer on one of the machines. Once it has installed, go into printers and right click on the printer itself, then select Sharing or Sharing and Security and allow the printer to be shared. You may have to switch on file and printer sharing before you can share the printer. Then, go onto the other machine and go to install printer. In the dialog window that opens, choose network printer and then search. When the printer appears in the search area, select it and choose install. The system will then download the appropriate drivers from one machine onto the other through the network and install the printer. This assumes that you have both machines connected to your home network and file and printer sharing is turned on, on both machines. To use the printer over the network, the machine the printer is connected too MUST be turned on.

I am on a network with a brand new HP 8500. I have searched for the printer and my laptop doesn't pick it up. What amI missing?
Have you checked that the IP range for the printer is on the same IP range for your network? you could always cold reset the printer which will reset the network card back to zero's. You attach it to the network and your server should issue an IP address via DHCP. You should be able to see it on the network then.If not, the jetdirect network card may be at fault.Has the printer got a Jetdirect network card installed?

How to install the lexmark E120 network printer
to clarify this, you need to install the printer in a computer that is connected to a Local Area Network lets call it computer 1. Once the printer is connected to the computer 1, share the printer by going to the start/settings/ printers. Right click on the lexmark e120 printer and click share. Click share this printer. Once done the printer that is connect to computer 1 is now on the network. on the other computer lets call it computer 2, to to start/settings/printer and click add printer/ select network printer and then browse the printer in the network and select it so that it will be added. Now you computer 2 has a network printer installed. try printing, make sure not to turn off the computer 1 when printing, or else it wont print.

Cannot find canon lbp 5000 printer in the network.
You should check the firewall settings. Both AVG and Vista firewalls treat the printer as a foreign network, rather than a device. You can go into the settings in either and nominate the printer as a device. It will then display on the network for selection as a printer.
